 Hi Gang,
I have a light bulb out on the dash for my fan control button(or switch). It is the bulb that would be illuminated at night so you can see where the fan control is. All the other lights are working for the temp selector and difuser buttons.
Any idea on how to change this bulb, and what part number it may be?
I would think that the control, itself, may be able to be removed without messing with the dash, but am not sure. (Didn't have any problems with my 99 4Runner, but that is history now)
I don't own a set of the 2003 repair manuals(but will be searching ebay for them) so I cannot dig into the books at this time.
Any help will be appreciated....
Thanks...

See this thread.

Once you have that panel out you will see a number of small bulbs held in place by plastic holders. Just repalce the broken one.
It might be easier to take out the light adn then get a replacement from the dealer. Not sure if any part shop will carry bulbs like these.

Bulldog, You came through with a super quick response and hooked me up to a detailed thread. I will tackle the situation with the help you provided.
Funny thing, when I bought my used 4Runner from a Toyota dealership, when they had it in the shop completing the "Certified Used Vehicle" isnpection, they were suppose to fix the light in the fan control. The mechanic said it would take about 8 hours as the dash would have to be taken apart completly, and then he couldn't do it then, as the part (bulb) would have to be ordered....I don't think he knew what was involved with changing the bulb.
Anyway, thank you very much.
As a newbie in the forum, I am already impressed with the response I received.
I will go through the different threads and check out the interesting things that people have questions about and the answers given.

Good stuff then.
Not sure why the guy said 8h to take out the fan control panel and replace the bulb. I managed to put in my ipod connector box is much less time than that, and it it requires the removal of a lot more pieces of the dash and console.
See here

and follow the link in the top section that goes through the whole dissassembly process in detail.

I went out into the garage and after reviewing your thread that you led me to, I pulled the control panel out in about 10 minutes. Could probably have done it in less, but didn't want to snap anything.
Anyway, I found the bulb that needs to be replaced. I tried the contact bending idea, but it didn't fix the problem, so when I make it to the big city of Plattsburgh, NY, I will stop in the Toyota dealership parts department to see if they have a bulb....8 hours...the guy must have been smoking something really good...
Thanks again for your expertise, Bulldog...
