Hey Andries, would you mind sharing your CB setup with us? Location, wiring etc. Thanks! I'm leaning toward one of these (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F008%5F009%5F005%5F003&product%5Fid=21%2D1607) .

Mark has one of those installed in his 4R. I still use a cheapie, which I plug into the lighter plug and then use a temporary magnetic antenna on the roof. I run the wire loosely through the rear hatch area.

I have one of the CObras bought and waiting to be installed. I am stil hoping to get a front bumper or rear at some point to install it on and have the antenna tuned.

Dual batteries, a perminant fridge, and a cheapie cb! Come on! :shocked:

Yeah yeah :jester: , the issue is mounting the antenna properly. I was hoping to have a proper front bumper by now to mount the antenna. A rear would be even better from a mounting point of view, not reception.

So is reception sh#t w/o an antenna?

Reception is OK with the external magnetic antenna on the roof. Using just the little rubber antenna on the unit reception is not great, but works ok in a group that is driving close together.

Obviously using a properly setup Cobra CB with Firestick antenna reception will be much improved over any setup I have now.
