Just installed the new Wet Okoles! Went with black/charcoal, and it matches the interior very well IMO!

Sweet !!!

I'm considering getting some of these for my 4th gen. to keep the leather from getting destroyed...
I like the two-tone scheme....

Thanks!

I had a set of fully-piped Wet Okoles in my '08 FJ. Unfortunately the piping on the driver's side started to wear from my arse sliding into the seat after about a year and a half. So I went without the piping this time- hence the two-tone!

From what the website says...yes

The material is neoprene sandwiched between nylon fabric...

Basically a wetsuit for your seats..

Well, wetsuits still let your body get wet. I really like these..... but are they WATERPROOF. That would sell me for sure

From the FAQ on the site..

http://www.wetokole.com/faq.html

Are Wet Okole Seat covers truly waterproof?
There are areas where water could leak. Cut-outs for seat belts, buttons, headrest posts are essentially holes and water will leak through a hole. Standing water will also eventually leak through seams. Wet Okole seat covers will protect your seats from wet bathing suits, wet suits, and other summer and winter sports clothing that gets wet in normal use.

how tight are they, do they feel like they were factory installed or is it really obvious they are seat covers also is there a pocket on the back of the drivers seat like there is on the stock seats

The wife might just go for that!

In answer to some questions, as MCL said they are about 2 bills per set plus shipping and/or customs... To reach me here in Canada, I spent an additional 80 bucks on customs. But they're worth it. I don't know if there's a seat cover out there that's 100% waterproof, but these are the closest you're gonna get! In my experience, they work great, are easy to keep clean, and the original seats remain in mint condition underneath!

They fit nice and tight (like a glove, actually), also you can get pockets, seat warmers, and/or lumbar supports installed! Me, I went with driver's and passenger's side pockets.

Thanks for the pics.

They do compliment the interior of the 4Runner perfectly. I would definitely go with the same colors if/when I order mine.

Thanks again for sharing,
nathan

I wonder how these covers will do with dog hair.

Yeah i'm with you there! My interior looks red from my dogs. I'm interested to know if they would be easier to clean than the cloth interior. So often I take my dogs to the beach would love to not worry about the interior getting saturated with salt water and sand. Might have to look into these since my rear seat is looking so ragged from them jumping in and out. Wonder what the cost is and if they are easy to install yourself?

I've got a black lab, and she sheds like a m*@^%$f#^&^#! I can tell you from experience that the hair doesn't really stick to the neoprene. If your dog has crazy devilhair, then the vacuum would probably do the trick easily... WRT cost, please view above in the thread!

Cheers!

Thanks for the info. I've got a Black Lab as well. Considering we live near the ocean, he swims a lot and then 'ol salty dog jumps in the truck for a ride.

Could you post a pic of the Okole's rear seat-backs? I usually fold the seats down to keep wet hairy dog ass off the seats.

I'll try to get some pics of the seat backs up later today- right now it's a steady downpour out there, so the wife doesn't want me getting the camera wet!

Price isn't bad I was showing them to the wife and even she thinks they would be a good buy:eek:(is my wife coming around to the mod bug). Have you noticed how well they hold up to dog claws? Noticed any snags? I think i'm going to order these soon.:chowtime:

Never really noticed any damage to the FJ's okoles from dog claws, and I had them for a year and a half. Throughout that time my dog went on multiple canoe trips and used the back seat for her. Here are those rear seat back pics I promised!

the fit on those looks great. glad to see the back seat armrest fits in the upright position. is there much difference in breath-ability from the stock cloth? some others have said the neoprene is a bit warmer to sit on. after coming from leather seats the lack of sweaty leg/back syndrome on a hot day has been nice....

How do these get along with the heated seats?

bender705
06-19-2010, 09:50 AM
To be perfectly honest, I have no idea, as I have owned 2 sets and I have never had heated seats!

However, the manufacturer will install seat heaters into the seat covers as an option, so I would imagine that they are A-O.K!:guitar:
