When in Venting mode (a/c off, temp. set at or near "Low", using dash vents) my Runner's HVAC system is heating up the outside air before it comes into the cabin. For example, if it is 70 degrees outside, the the outside air coming in would be heated up to about 80 degrees, forcing me to use the a/c . It's driving me nuts :pissed1: . It pretty much commits me to having to use my a/c all the time, which I've never had to do before here on the coast. Also a bummer with gas at $3/gallon.

And yes, I make sure that PITA cabin air-recirculation button is not on.

Does anyone know if this is easily and cheaply resolvable? I've brought this up in the past in other forums but have not yet heard if it is correctable.

I don't know of any fix for it. Mine does a similar thing. I have found that running the A/C for while, and cooling things down a bit, allows me to switch it off with minimal increase in temp from the outside air.

I normally turn the A/C on for a mile or three and then turn it off if the outside air is cool enough. Not sure what the issue is, but it seems the HVAC system heats up a bit in the cabin.

I've found that if I turn on the fan and set the temp low (lower than ambient or just "LO") then turn it off, it usually is cool (er)

The problem is the air enters at the bulkhead where it is very warm from the engine. (one reason you see electrical wires routed in front of the radiator and not behind at the bulkhead).
