Man it looks like the ARB bumper sticks out like 2" further than the stock bumper
Looks like it sits higher though so the approach angle should still be better.

yikes, it sticks too far out for my liking, its like a snout :oink:. if they could do something in between that and the trail lex custom bumper, that'd be cool.

Yeah and the angle of the picture doesn't help either :)
I don't think it stick out further than the ARB on the 3rd Gen, just the lines make it look worse. Would love to see these in real life though.
At least it tucks up higher.

Here is a much better picture of the bumper. Looks better from this angle. I think the first pic was more an angle issue than a bumper.

haha, this coming from a "REAL" man who brings a flower covered picnic bag to big bear :P
in all seriousness, too bad for the bling chrome on the sahara, but i dont see the practicality of a full bull bar except to scare kids and clip pedestrians. maybe i'm missing something.

You leave my BBQ bag alone now you hear :pissed2: :rotflmao:
The reason for the full bar in the front is branch/bush protection of the headlights and grill, and more importantly for animal strikes. When you hit a deer or roo the bar will "catch" the animal rather than let it slide up on the hood and getting to the windshield. It also protects the vehicle and allows it to be driven still. WIthout the bar the radiator, etc will be shot leaving you stranded. This is very handy in places like Australia and Africa, less handy here in the US but still usable. Lots of people still hitting deer, especially when you drive at night.
And just when you think it is not an issue, we actually have deer here in the hills of Morgan Hill which is like 20 miles from the heart of Silicon Valley. This year I know of 2 people who messed up their cars by hitting deer in my little town.
Bottom line: Be a MAN and get a REAL bullbar :P

So given that its been displayed, has anyone contacted them again about a release date. I want that bullbar!
Is the truck somewhere in CA still, or was it brought in just for SEMA? Can we see it somewhere else?
Could they bring it to Surf N Turf

I haven't contacted them in quite sme time regarding the bullbar.
I believe this was just done as a promo with Toyota. Modified Prado120 bar.
Might as well call them next week to find out what is up with the 4R.
I doubt we will see it at SnT. It was just at SEMA, which is closed to the public :mecry:

"It was just at SEMA, which is closed to the public "
You just have to know the right people :princess:
I was so tired at the end of everyday, I don't think I've walked so far in my life. There was so much to see and so little time.
How do you guys like this color?

Dear Henry,
Last week at the SEMa show Toyota said they would give us the data we need in order to proceed with a final design for the 4Runner bar. As soon as we have it we can get started. I hope to have the bar out of production and in the USA sometime in the spring of 2006.

Lance started a request list for the ARB front bumper here (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14212)
So if you are interested in getting one and have not signed up, maybe do so. The more the better.

But what seems odd to me, why do they need data from Toyota? They have a runner down there in Australia that they imported? Hmmm, another delaying action by ARB or for real? Lets hope.
And bulldog, nice forum, i just found it (its THE04Runner from YT)

All I heard is they imported a Tacoma (not 4Runner). The main Tech guy at ARB said the higher ups (corporate ARB USA) loved the ARB 4Runner so it looks good. I think they will ramp up and deliver.

I think they just want to cover their bases. It is frustrating to see the process, but I think ARBUSA has got the idea load and clear now that we want stuff for the 4th Gen.
Thx and welcome to toyota120

I like the new Bumper. I had an ARB on my 99 Tacoma. I learned a valuable lesson, have a friend to help you install it. Its heavy. Luckly some A-hole hit me a hew weeks ago. He was nice enough to take off, most likely had no insurance. Now i have a reason to replace it.
