There are hand grabs on each wind shield pillar. But on the roof line the driver side has a hand grab mount but no hand grab installed. The passenger side has one. So riddle me this: Why no hand grab for the driver but the passenger gets one? :moon:
Anybody installed one? :poke:

couldn't have said it better lol. a friend of mine has installed one on the drive side (for what reason i will never know maybe to match the passenger side. i still make fun of him). he pulled the plugs out and screwed one in.

I just want a hand grab to use to get in and out of the truck.
What's the purpose of the wind shield pillar hand grab then if the stearing wheel is all the driver needs?

I have thought about installing one, but my head is pretty close to that area as it is, and I often bounce off the roof while wheeling, and think that if I installed one, I'd be hitting my head even...
The sunroof is part o the problem, it detracts from the max head room

Rob...
I've installed the grab handle on the driver's side roof. I like it, and it doesn't interfere with vision or anything. I haven't hit my head on it yet, and I'm 6'3".
Just order the passenger side roof grab handle in your correct interior color, along with the screws and the little covers.
(just fyi, the little covers that snap over the openings in the handle to get to the screws are not the same, they are left and right specific - 2 different part numbers... I learned that the hard way.)
Later.

three letters... JDM
4 runners are still made in japan/ rhd countries, hence right hand drive set ups.

I believe all the grab handles in the cabin are identical. I'm not 100% about the rears, but I know the 3 existing ones in front are all the same. I got an extra one for my driver side and use it all the time.

I use mine sometimes when I am outside of the truck (if the window is open). It has also been handy in tight parking situations where the door will open just enough to slide in sideways and the handle gives me a grab point that is closer than the steering wheel.

Not sure if it was a cost cuttign or headroom decision on the 4Runner as the GX comes with a driver side top handle (can't remember using it).
The handle can be nice in certain conditions, but I can't recall anytime when I really woudl have wanted/needed it.
As Mike said you will probably be able to get a handle and just retrofit it.
