Has anyone here installed a CB on their Runners?
I installed mine last night, and now im trying to figure out where to mount the antenna. The possible places that i could think of, above the rear light, in the crack on the hood, and on the rear doors.
The problem with the rear doors is that it just too far forwards. Above the rear light, there really isnt enough of a flat space to mount the antenna, and with the crack on the hood, I cant really figure out where exactly I could mount it there.
So, where did everyone else mount their antennas?

I am leaning towards a magnetic mount in the center of the roof with a connection point somewhere in the cargo area. I currently use a cheap radioshack magnetic antenna on the roof, but a wilson will probably be better.
Check out these threads as well.

See expats first mounting and results. He mounted it by the hood on the driver side and found his signal was weak to one side. Expect the same if you mount front and rear. I think a simple mag mount (center roof) with a connect point will be the easiest, no mounting brackets hanging around and it would yield the best results.

My magnetic mount Wilson 5000 will be here Monday. I will mount this in the centre of the roof which I think has to be the best method. Will not know for sure until next week when I intend to wheel at Big Bear with a few others. See what happens.
I will simply place the coaxial thru the headliner and out the rear where there is already a wiring loom.
Lots of people do mount off the rear bumper and with a 5ft antenna this should work reasonably well. You'd need to organise some way to stop the antenna smacking the back of the truck tho.

I love deliveries from the UPS man! Will test out this weekend at Big Bear.

I followed LI4L's recommendation and got the mag mount, too. It works great when I need a CB (which is only when I wheel), and it's gone when I don't need it. I really like that flexibility.

The only problem is that Andrew already has a Firestik II antenna and a mount ... so I htink he's tryig to figure out a way to make do with those parts (instead of buying more).

for the firestick, you could get a flat metal cb mount tab and fit it between the rr taillight and bumperette. It would stick out of the gap and you mount the firestick right there. Use a rubber grommet around the firestik where it would hit the body.
I've seen this type of setup alot on suv's. might work as a nice clean install
