Hey all,
I've been lurking in the forums for several months now and I'm looking to get a 4th gen 4runner and do some mods. I'm pretty sure the guys on these vids are natives here. They've probably upgraded since, but I'm hoping someone knows/remembers what their setup was at the time of these vids.

I'm particularly interested in the white sport and the silver 4th gens. I'm guessing 2/1 cornfed spacers or maybe daystar with 265/70/17 BFG or Revos and hanna or shrockworks sliders.
Also, does anyone know if either the sliders above stick out far enough to catch car doors in parking lots from dinging my sides? That's 1/2 the reason I want them.
Thanks for any help.
(btw, I love the pic in pic of the Diablo Dropoff descent with that song, whoever did it.)

Hanna Quality sliders, Shrock works, and Demello sliders will give your protection from the shopping mall ding and run drivers. Also added lift and the sliders will protect your body work more. I would save up your money for a set of coilovers in the front and custom lift coils in the rear rather than buying a spacer lift. You will get a better ride and performance on/ off road with a coilover setup versus the spacer lift setup. Check out Donahoe racing, Sway away, and King technology for coilovers that fit your preference. Hope this helps and you will love the 4Runner when you buy it.

Welcome to the forum.
Well you've come to the right forum because those videos are from here. The moderator Bulldog (Andries) shot the video and his truck is the silver one you are prolly identifying, and the white truck is mine.
At the time those videos were made our trucks consisted mainly of sliders from Hanna Quality and again at the time I think I was using Daystar spacers while Andries was on Old Man Emu.
Since then things have changed somewhat.
The additon of a stack of mods to Andries truck and some lesser ones to mine can be found in either of our sigs. (mine are listed, Bulldogs is via a link)
In my experinece the sliders tend not to save from door dings (although I haven't got any myself) but when I look at people opening their doors next to my truck (yes I watch with an eagle eye) the doors of other vehicles are often shaped such (curvature) that they can hit the side of our trucks. The sliders are designed to tuck into the body to maximise clearance and provide protection on trails. They may or may not provide protection from dumbasses in carparks.
Cheers
Mark

Blue had Demello sliders OME suspension, 265/75/16 Bridgestone ATs. -- chiefiji
White one had Daystar spacer lift (2.5/2") Hanna sliders, GoodYear MTR 275/70/17 on stock wheels. --- expat
Other silver truck with black wheels had Hanna sliders, OME suspension, Goodyear MTR 285/70/17 on American Racing 17x8 4.5 BS Mojave wheels -- Joel.
Search for the usernames on here to get more info ontheir setups.
The band that played the song at Diablo dropoff is "Slightly Stoopid".
You can see more videos here (and all the tech info on the site itself - lots of it)

Thanks for all the feedback. Those are about what I'm looking to do to mine. There's no way the wife can be talked into an ARB bumper or body lift (...yet...) so I'm focusing on baby-stepping her that way.
I checked out your guys sigs, but yeah, you've upgraded quite a bit since then. As for the curvature of other doors in parking lots, thats kind of what I figured, but any bit helps I suppose.
I agree about the coil overs, but they'll prolly have to wait. Thanks again.
Oh, and I meant whoever put together the youtube vid when I said "whoever did it," which I guess would be you bulldog. That was really cool. I really like how the in cab and out of cab views were synched up.

For what its worth, I have been in my truck at least three times when someone opened there door next to me and I had the pleasure of watching them be pissed that there doors dented or scracthed paint off.
They were all small passenger cars and with my lift and demello sliders, it hit at the point of where there door handles are.
Even though this is not what they are intended for, I found great pleasure in the experience :rotflmao:

 That's exactly what I'm hoping for. Especially if it's some jerk or some parent who didn't teach their kids to respect other peoples property. Thanks for the input.
