Hey - love the site. I've learned alot. But I have a few questions. But 1st - I'm from middle Tennessee and just got a new (to me) 2004 4Runner with 45k mi. on her. Here's a pic:

I still have my old 4Runner that has 484,000 miles on the original engine :cool1:

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i118/TNcaveman/4RunnerNGamntsinet.jpg

I also have a Celica GTS (sits much lower)

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i118/TNcaveman/Celicainet.jpg

Now here is the hard part - I have to get rid of atleast 1 vehicle - the Celica (sweet little car) or my old 4Runner (awesome offroad but a little tired).

Which one? The 4Runner has some sweet mods (short list)
perfect drive train (<80,000 miles on these parts)
4.56 w/ Detroit rear
Marlin stock T Case
Marlin HD tranny and clutch
all Toyota bearings/seals/u-joints
Budbuilt skid/x-member
electric fan
HD alternator
Downer intake
BFG AT's
etc...

Interior near perfect (vinyl carpet)
Body v.good (only 4 small - 1") rust spots

Anyway, If I sell the 89 4Runner, I need to modify the new one for offroading. This is a tough decision. It would probably be best to only have 1 truck and one econo/sports car.

What do you guy's think? What is she worth?

Welcome, that 1st Gen sure looks sweet. Unfortunately I have no clue what they go for, you might want to check some of the sites that cater more towards older 4Runners to get some opinions.

Go to TTORA (http://www.TTORA.com), an go to either the 4Runner and/or the rigs for sale forums. :wavey:

Hard decision, but wouldn't hurt to have a truck and a car. :cool1:

Or just tell the ol' lady that you need to keep all three, you know, just in case you break two of them!!! :jester: :rotflmao:

Welcome to the best site for your 4th gen 4Runner on the net!!!

Love the old runner. I had an 87 that looked the same. Difficult decision. Good Luck and welcome.

I would not have gotten the new one if I wasn't tired of the old one.

Now to upgrade the new one :guitar:

I've been eyeing some BFG's and a 2-3in. lift.

I have to sell something first though.

Either sell the Celica and keep the old 4Runner as your wheeler and the new one as your nice car or sell the old 4runner (very sad day) and make upgrade the new one similarly to make it your wheeler.

I REALLY wish I have never sold my old FJ40, big regrets! Tired or not, I think you will miss your old 4Runner.

Dificult decision. Keeping 2 trucks is depend on you live style, but I think you've already mention that you want 1 car and 1 truck. So if this is the way you want to go, good luck.
As of the lift and tires, I'd recommend to go with either OME or DR as the best for the value and ProComp All Terrain tires instead of BFG (nearly the same pattern, but much cheaper, quiet on the highway and Very Good on rough terrain, awesome on snow/ice) My :2cents

A new project. That should be enough.
Sell the '89 and get to work :drink: :chowtime:

The old 4runner was sold to a really nice guy from Chattanooga. I felt good about the sale because he knew what he was getting. He had been looking for 6 months and loved it! He has good plans for it and it has already displaced his 2005 Jetta diesel out of the garage :guitar:

The 2004 'runner had its running boards removed last night - what a upgrade in the look of the truck - now it looks like a truck.

I think I'm going to go with the OME set up. I'm still curious about using Bilstein shocks (std up front and 5150's rear) -- but no responses from this thread I tried to start.

the 2004 went on its first camping trip last weekend - she enjoyed the trip :camping:

New projects are cool

You've made a good choice. OME is awesome budget lift option.

I'll be in Ringgold GA on Monday to look at a slope failure - i.e. slow landslide.

I love North GA - east and west (and central). Lots of killer mountainbiking, fishing, hiking, camping, caving, waterfalls .........
