just got the issue today with a nice article on the FJC going thru the Rubicon. TT was the only publication invited, along w/ Toyota brass and Satcchi&Satcchi advertising.

FJC was stock except they put 285-75 BFG at's on it.

Interesting since 4wdtoy owner claims their story was an exclusive, maybe the fact that it was wriiten by the driver, who knows. I think they used 265/70/17 BFG ATs, same size as stock just better tires than what it wil get from the factory.

Who wrote the story for TT?

Alan Loshbaugh, president of TLCA
Bill Burke (offroad driving guru w/ many instructional books/videos/etc)
The rest were Toyota crew and S&S advertising

The article says the FJC was bone stock except for the oversize tires.

They moved very slowly as they didn't make Buck Island on the first night but the couldn't damage that FJC either so it was worth it.

2 UZJ 100's (w/ ARB bullbars, 2" OME, 285/75's, rr lockers, 1 had ARB front locker, 1 running AT's, 1 MT's) and a Taco (2" OME, ARB fr/rr lockers, 33x12.5 MT's)were running support

Sounds like a great article. I enjoyed the one wriiten in 4wd toy owner as well, written by the driver (Toy test driver Joe Bacal) and edited for the mag. Interesting perspective. We will have to bring the different mags to the next meet so each can read the other.

I'm amazed at the technical difference that I have seen reported on this trip. From the FJC was completely stock, to just added A/T tires same size, oversize A/T tires, modified ATRAC to work with rear locker, etc.
