Has anybody tried removing the large plastic side pannels and going with like a line-x type coating? I have a 2003 runner and I hate the plastic all down the sides.
Kind of reminds me of the chevy avalanche. Not downing the chevy I just don't dig it:cool1:

removing the cladding reveals stamped metal door panels that are unattractive. Line x would not cover it

I was actually thinking of just putting line-x directly on the plastic along the bottom of the doors to protect it from salt and rocks. Ill let you know how that goes.

That would have to look better than it does right now. I think it would give the runner a meaner look all the way around:thrasher:

I have the same plan. Already have the Durabak. I have just been waiting for the weather to cool off. Now that it has, I need to find the time...

The GX470 was designed as a Land Cruiser Prado for OZ. It is sold with and without the cladding.

THere is a Trail-Lex article here:

i just read this and realized it might be a little confusing. I have the full painted doors, not that grey stuff along the bottom, thats why I was thinking of the line-x...maybe yall already got this, but i thought i would clarify it

You may not have the dark grey plastic panels; but the painted panels you have are still plastic pieces attached to the metalwork. It looks more refined this way.

I have been thinking about having the plastic panels painted in a charcoal grey, for a two-tone look on my silver rig.

I believe someone on 120 has coated the cladding... it will take some searching, but there are some pics around.

I'm not looking for the original grey panels. I was thinking of a professional paint job on my existing panels. I don't care for the look of the 1st year fender plastic. Dull finish and notches.

When I saw Lance's rig in Death Valley, the fender flairs were painted black metal-flake. It looked really good, even up close.
