I was at the dealer today, adn wanted to check one out in person. They were all sold out, even all their printed material was out. Teh sales manager told me they basically sell them the same they day they arrive. They have 15 coming in this week and all of them are already spoken for and they still have people on the witing list.

Given this info I didn't even want to ask the price these things are going at.

Guess it will take a while before I can actually get a test drive, just to see how it behaves adn feels.

No wionder they are selling at MSRP and above with lots of expensive options. I would seriously like to see the person who gets a 4WD at $25k with most of the options. The original price point pklanned for the FJC. Guess it will take at least till the end of the year for it to cool down a bit and prices to start dropping a bit.

Just a quick note...

Saw three FJ's at Pismo. All in passing, no time to really chat. Saw not one 4Runner of any generation although saw a couple built prerunners.

One FJ was silver, had a roof rack with four roof mounted lights, long handle shovel, highlift jack and a bullbar. It looked very nice. It frustrates me they have a bullbar already!

Two others, a blue and a yellow, were stock and I didn't really like the look of the yellow one.

One the way home I saw a trailer with four FJ's heading North of Santa Barbara. They are everywhere!

I think they stand out a bit more due to the unique look. 4Runners are pretty common now, so I don't even notice them anymore.

I will wait to see what it looks like 1-2 years down the line, maybe they stay popular or demand might slow down. I do hope they sell well to show Toyota that there still is a market for real 4WD trucks in the US.

Are you thinking about getting one someday? If you ever need to locate one, let me know, I have one of the largest allocations of them in the country.
Hey, if you ever did need one, come up here to Las Vegas to get it, and we can go out and wheel!! :jester: :rotflmao:

Andries, if that store up by you didn't have any printed material, I think that I have one left. The FJ Crusher brochure that is really more of a book or maybe a magazine than it is a brochure. You'd love this FJ book, it's full of history, specs, accessories, design processes, technology info like crazy, also all of the test drives from Rubicon, Glamis, etc...
If you want me to send it to you, PM me, and give me your mailing address, and/or give me a call tomorrow.
Robert

P.S. I drove a 6 speed Crusher on Friday, took it up a couple of trails by the store, with the tires still over inflated from transport, and it just climbed everything, without any trouble, pretty impressive. Had it at about 30 degrees, no problems. Only thing, I got in a little bit of trouble the next morning. Not much, I told them that I was driving it with a customer that just reserved one with me, which I did, customer was blown away! Said that his Xterra couldn't do what we did in the Crusher, stuff that I thought that it did easily.

Not in the market for one, just wanted to kick the tires. I will probably not buy one unless my 4R gets wrecked. (Don't get ideas now :P :moon: )

Honestly it seems most dealers are going ape with prices on these things. Basically you can get a well loaded LTD V8 4R for 4-5K more than what FJC are going for. You can probably get a SE V8 4R for almost the same price as what they are selling the FJCs for. I think it will become more reasonable later, good thing I'm not in the market.

My next purchase will probably be a Prius or something, so the GF and I can use it for commute in the carpool lane and keep miles of the SUVs. Save some gas while we are at it.

Thx for the offer on the mag, but I have it in pdf so don't worry. Very interesting to read.

BTW we will be in Vegas in April sometime, dunno yet if we will have time to swing by. My brother works for Ford in South Africa, maybe you guys can show him how Toyota runs a dealer in the US. He will probably stop by a Ford dealer to check it out. Then he can appraciate a Toyota dealer, as Ford dealers suck in the US.

Hi guys,

Nice site here. I'm not quite as hard core as a lot of you but I definitely lean to the off-road side. This site is a great resource.

How did the ATRAC feel compared to your 4Runner?. Did it seem to be calibrated about the same?
