I've started this thread for people who want bolt-on version of the sliders.
If we can get enough people, Jim (Shrockworks) can make us those sliders. So far he estimates them to be $500

If you're interested copy the following list in to your reply and add your name.
As more people we'll get, faster he'll start making them and may be better deal he'll give us.

Jim,
It looks like you might have to get that group buy thing going on the sliders! More people are signing up every day. It really must suck. I mean you're building such a good product, that everyone wants one! :rotflmao: :bigok:

I wanted to make ya'll jealous. I just got back from Jim's shop where he installed them in about one hour. They simply mounted around the frame with three bolts per side. This is an easy two wrench install that anyone can do. And not only are these things wicked STOUT, the unique mounting bracket leaves nothing protruding below the frame... no bolts to snag on the trail.

How exactly are they bolted? I like the look, especially with no bolts and nuts protruding below - the one "weakness" of the Hanna Sliders.

There are three u-shaped mounting brackets that sandwich the frame. Each bracket has one bolt above the frame that squeezes the bracket tightly around the frame.

Hi Guys,
I wanted to do one more local instal before I deemed them ready for production. The install went great, so they are god to go.
It will take a few weeks to get get all the pieces together for a batch of brackets. They are very complex and each of the siz is unique. After that they will go out in a 2-3 weeks, so figure abot 4-5 weeks from today for the first production batch, then 2-3 weeks for any orders after that.
$499 is the price.

Ummm, 4-5 weeks is a litte over a month. Read Jim's post again, 4-5 weeks for the first batch aka you if you order in the first batch. Thereafter 2-3 weeks per order.

4-5 + 2-3 = ~2 month + shipping time (at some places over 10 business days). All this come to up to 3 month ;)

Well I read it as 4-5 weeks for the first batch to come out. That measn availible for shipment. Jim can clear it up, but that is how I read it ;)

How do these compare to Hanna in design and materials?
bulldog
06-30-2006, 04:05 PM
I don't know if Hanna still makes the sliders, so perhaps contact him directly to find out.
Hanna uses a U-bolt and specially designed L bracket that fit underneath and on the side of the frame. SW uses a U bracket with a bolt on the top. Hanna only uses 2 brackets on each side, but honestly it doesn't need more as they are very sturdy. SW has 3 on a side. What I like on Hanna's is that it mounts next to places where the frame crossmembers and rear control arm brackets help prevent it from shifting. Have not seen the SW in person so I can't comment on that aspect of the SW design.
I'm biased and like the Hanna one better, but it is more expensive to make though :jester: I have used my Hanna ones extensively for hi-lifting, sliding over rocks and hitting rocks pretty hard; and have not had any issues, although after BBB II I might want to check the bolt torques again. Mark and other have had issues with theirs hitting the rear door trimming. After BBB where Mark hit a rock real hard at some speed his one rear door nicks the slider extensively. Not sure what the real issue is, but he might just have to loosen it slightly and retighten to fix that.
Only time will tell if there is any difference in function and which one works better. So far I have been very happy with my Hanna ones and I'm sure folks with SW ones will be happy too. Nothing like real world testing to see how they work though. So it is really difficult to compare as I don' think the SW have hiot the rocks yet, although I don't foresee any major issues.

Jim,
What materials are used for the sliders?
In the pictures, it appears the rails run along the body pinch weld?
Any other relevant info on the construction/welding/powder coating?
Thanks,

You might want to just give Jim or Nick a call and ask them. Most fab guys dont spend too much time online, but rather in their shop. Then you can just post up what you find out.

We just made appropriate changes to fit all 4th gen 4runners......V6,V8, even the 06. Call Jim for ship times
Bolt on sliders. Using 3/16" vise like brackets, capturing 3 sides of the frame. Made from 2 x 2, 3/16" box tubing main and legs, .130 x 1.75 outer round tubing, professionally welded and the thickest powdercoat we've seen on any products, using extra oven baking pre and post sandblasting to ensure a quality coat.

Here are some quick pics . . nothing special, but it gives you a good idea of how they look on a lifted truck. I did get to test them out this weekend at Paragon off-road park and was very impressed. Used them to pivot around rocks where my ground-clearance challenged 4Runner had issues and came down on them hard a few times. I'll do a short install report if anyone needs it, took me all of 15 minutes to get them bolted on.
Here's a short video (http://034runner.blogspot.com/2006/08/off-roading-at-paragon.html) of the sliders in action . . not your traditional 'rock sliding' but again, I used the driver side one to pivot in the turn.
http://loshombresproduction.com/images/DSCN1057.jpg
http://loshombresproduction.com/images/DSCN1066.jpg
http://loshombresproduction.com/images/DSCN1049.jpg
A few notes on the install:
1) The fat-end of the slider goes to the rear . . you'll notice that the frame of the 4Runner is thicker in the back. This also requires the long bolt.
2) All the bolts get put in from the inside of the truck to the outside except for the location near the gas tank. The gas tank mount is in a tight location, but I was able to get it bolted in quickly.
3) On the driver-side front bracket, you must remove the fuel lines . . just two plastic clips.
4) Make sure the truck is cool, you'll be working really close to the heat shield on the passenger side.
Any adjustment available for those of us with body lifts?
Or do we just have an inch or so more gap between the slider and the truck?
Thanks,
-Mike

I wonder if Jim or Nick can make a thread in the vendor section covering the sliders, with all the details, pricing and pictures. That way there is a proper add and easy to get info, and the discussion can be here.
