We had to cut the wings and shorten them a bit, but everything bolted right on.
The major problem was the grille. It lifts with the hood, so it would hit the top bar.

Hard to see, but this piece of the grille used to be attached to the rest of the grille. They cut it in two, then painted it. The emblem still hits the top bar, but there is just enough room to squeeze it by without scratching, if you're careful.

Great work!! Looks good. ANd the 2006 fitting is probably more challenging than the 03-05 because fo the grill, bumper changes. ANy issues with fitting the little side skid plates by the waterbottle, etc?

that looks great! The 06 front grille sticks out a few inches more than the 03-05 which accounts for the clearance problem on the ARB hoop but it looks like you guys did a great job modding it all.
Did you paint it black after modding the wings? I think it is orig. a grey color?
Nice stuff, thanks for posting the pics.

Yes, it was originally grey, we repainted the whole bar after welding the wings

Not as far as I know, the only issues were the grille & the wings.

Pretty cool that your dealership mods bullbars and installs like that. Is the owner a 4x4 fan?
I wish we had such a dealership around here..

Actually, the 4Runner is brand new and still for sale.
They wanted some tough trucks to tack to Moab and get video of to display when the International Sportsmans Expo (http://www.sportsexpos.com/) was in town.
We were going to do the Tacoma bar too, but they moved the film date up on me, so the bar I ordered wasn't here in time.
I also ordered a ARB roof rack for the 4Runner, but the fit kit wasn't here in time either, so they put that Yakima basket on instead.
We're in Salt Lake City, UT if you're interested, or if you know anybody who is:)
!!!update-4Runner is sold!!!

Awesome pictures.
I got the grille part, but didn't get where you modified the wings. Could you post some images of it?
The other thing, you are saying that Prado bar perfectly fit 4Runner. I, personally like Sahara version more then Deluxe. ARB is not ready to release Sahara right now, they only testing Deluxe. What do you think, is it going to be a challenge to fit Prado Sahara bar? Or should I wait till ARB will release Deluxe one and just exchange the top portion?

The red line here represent where the wings were originally(I just kind of guessed here) You have to cut the ends of, shorten the wings a bit, and re-weld the ends back on.
As far as exchanging the top portion, I can't see as how that would be done at all. The uprights in the deluxe bar are prety much integrated into the bar itself. I think it would be much easier to mod a sahara bar off of a Prado.

I’ve talked to ARB-USA recently. I like the look of new ARB bumper for LandCruiser 120 (Prado) in Sahara version. Unfortunately I was told by president of ARB-USA Jim Jackson, that ARB will release only Deluxe version of the bumper for 4Runner this Summer.
Analyzing all this info and after unsuccessful try-out to order Sahara version as a Special Order, I’ve come up with an idea of trying to retrofit LC120 Sahara bar to ’05 4Runner.
What do you think guys? Is it possible? What should I be aware of? Any comments, suggestions?

I think it will require quite a bit of work tomake it work for the 4R. The one thing that concerns me the most will be the chrome hoop on the sahara and the grill of the 4R. Given how close the the deluxe and the grill of the 4R seems to be, I think you will eithe have to look at dropping the chorme bar (buy then why Sahara) or figure out a way of making the grill of the 4R not get to it.
I might be completely wrong, but I would suggest that you carefully see how a Deluxe works on the 4R. Opening and closing the hood especially. If you look at the ARB 4R and the posts here where they retrofitted the PRado bar you will get a good idea of how to make it work.

I think it will work except you will have to cut down and refinish the wings. That is the issue w/ the Prado bumper, the wings are several inches too long. It isn't a aesthetic issue, it must be done to clear the wheels.
You could get a SW bumper and ask them for a single center hoop, would be alot easier and cheaper.

I second that, get the ShrockWorks front bumper and be done with it. :D

The point is getting ARB with Stainless Steel tube. I like the design of ARB more. It has very nice central part with holes for airflow, urethane bushings for touch contacts and indicators and fog light kit. Its looks amazing. ARB is very cool bumper. I just don’t like the black tube and triangles supports in Deluxe version.
I know that one of the dealers in States installed it (read a post about it in this forum) and the guy wrote that they had to cut the wings and modified grille in ’06 model. Was it Prado bar? I think that I might not need to modify the grille because ’03-’05 grille is shorter then new ’06. Anyway, I’d try to contact that guy in that dealership to get more info.

TOYOTABOONE,
Do you still have this 4Runner in your dealership?
I'm thinking of retrofitting Prado Sahara bar into my '05 4Runner. Regarding this I'd have some questions for you as you done the same project with Deluxe version and '06 model.
First of all, have you used Prado Deluxe bar? You said that the only modifications you've done is to cut the wings (too long) and modified the front grille on the hood. I think '05 has shorter grill and I hope it wouldn't need to be modified. What else have you done? How did it attached to the frame?
Could you give me some specific information and take some details pictures?
Thank you in advance. Your information will be very helpful.

Alex I'll say it again. The chrome bar on top the Sahara takes up more space than the tubes on the Deluxe. So it will interfere more with the grill than the Deluxe. That thread of Toyotaboone is a great resource, but compare your 4R to the 06 and see how much difference there really is on the grill. Then take it form there.
My concern is that it touches the emblem on the 06, which is pretty much where the emblem is on the 03-05. Draw your own conclusions.

If yours is an 05 I think the Sahara bar will fit. Unfortunatly we sold this 4Runner so I can't take any more pics for you. From what I remember of the ARB 4Runner when it was here though, it seemed like there was plenty of clearance between the top bar & grille. I will have to go & find a older Runner & look to see the differences between the two. I'll see what I can find out for you.

That's what I thought too. Sahara bar should fit better on '05 model because it doesn't have this big front grille as '06 model have. The one your dealership done was Prado bar, am I right? Do you have any installation instructions left?
So as you posted before the only thing you had to do was to cut the wings and then because of a "big" grille you cut the grille too. Have you worked on that 4Runner or some mechanics did it? If it’s been done by your mechanics, could you double check with them how did it fit and what they have done.
Thank you very much for trying to help me. I'd appreciate if you can find some information for me.

It was actually my shop foreman who did the mod.
As far as instructions go, there aren't any and I don't think there ever will be. It's kind of touch & go, and of course how much money you're willing to spend. The Sahara bar is about $300 more than the deluxe bar.
I think this would be a sweet mod.
You would need to cut the wings, as I showed you in the other thread, so they don't stick into the wheel wells. I think the grill will clear the top bar, but if not it should be an easy fix. The bar is just a bolt in so you can take it out & cut the bottom a little to change the angle.
The downside is after cutting & welding you have to repaint the bar, unless you want to pay the big bucks & have it powdercoated again.

What color is it coming, grey? I'll be painting it in black anyway.

Use ARB part# 3921020-this is the Prado sahara bar w/flares
I think this will work nicely. I talked to ARB last week & they said they had one of these in stock.
