V6 4Runner doesn't have external transmission cooling systems. They do use part of the radiator (I think I saw tubes coming from transmission to my radiator). I saw in broshures that V8 has transmission cooler. If I'll be towing heavy loads or off-roading, the lastt thing I want is to overheat my transmission. I looked in the internet and found this:

What do you think? Any thoughts?

Most people just get a hayden cooler. Unortunatly I don't know the number. However you dont need a unit with a fan as there is plenty of aiflow in front of the A/C unit where the V8 coller sits. The radiator fan will provide enough airflow even at slow speeds to cool the trnasmision. I have not heard of anybody with the V8 who has had trans overheating issues with that small cooler. SO no need to go overkill, just get a good quality unit.

Don't trust those plastic tabs to hold up very long. I've seen lots of bad things happen to them in the Mustang world, and that's all on-road driving. Also be sure what ever cooler you buy is a plate and fin, not tube and fin, and the p&f have much more surface area and cool much better.
