Which is softer? Are the current Icon's the same as the older ones? I thought I read some where that they were making them stiffer.

We had the older DRs and in my opinion they made the rear stick up too high. Most of the springs out there say 2'', but kinda want a 1''.

If you don't want the stiffness/lift of the Icons, buy a set of SAW coils. I'll be getting rid of mine in the next few weeks if you still need them then.

It will be due to a combination of taller and stiffer springs, what sort of weight you plan to carry in back and matching whatever lift you have in the front coilovers.

It seems like the DRs give about 2.5-3'' of lift, even with 150lbs. in the back. I have the stock springs in it right now, but they're too short and light.

Were they too soft for you? If I have the money ,I'll let you know.

My old DR's settled after awhile to about 1.5" of lift. I ended up switching them out to AP 3.5" springs to gain some height back.

Most FJ coils are rated around 220lbs/in. Both Allpro and Icon have the same rating, the last info I saw.
I believe the Allpro 3.5" lift spring is the same rating just longer for more lift.

What about the SAWs or OME lights?

OME is 260lbs in the back, so stiffer for the 895 spring. The SAWs are rated 213lbs or so, so rated very similar- however folks reported that they are softer than the Icon coils in the back.

I think I have more than 150lbs just with my tools, recovery gear, and emergency survival bag. :jester:
I haven't even started on the other mods like a fridge yet.

OME has Medium 896 which are 320 if I'm not mistaken. I have those with 250lbs of rear bumper, 100lbs of extra gas in gas cans, 100lbs of 35" spare on the bumper, ~250lbs of HD skids, 50lbs Hi-Lift and 100lbs cargo organiser on the back. So, I'm having around 750-800lbs of additional weight and the rate is just fine to hold it, even better when I load the truck for expeditions.
If you have such weight add-on, then 896 are fine, for the rest as Andries mentioned 895 should do the trick with up to 250lbs of optional weight.

It's not an expedition vehicle, and if I need to haul I'll use the Tacoma. Just for off-road ,what do you guys like better the Icons or SAWs.

I wanted an inch lift, also. I called Deaver in Santa Ana (http://www.deaverspring.com/) and ordered a pair of custom rear springs 1" and 15% stiffer over stock. The price wasn't much different from Icon or SAW and they gave me exactly 1" of lift in the rear. I don't belive Deaver makes these, but orders them from a shop in the Mid-West. They did get me what I wanted with no hassle. The guys there were easy to work with.

I'm thinking I might give Icon a second chance (mainly because I can get a pretty good deal). Aren't the Icons made by Deaver?
