Lights

I would like to install some leds in the footwell areas of my 2005 Sr5 4runner. I am, however, an electrical ignoramus.

Here is what I would like to occur:

I would like the lights to be installed in the driver and passenger footwell areas as well as the back passenger footwells. I would like for it to go on/off when the doors open/close. And I would like it to fade off when the dome lights turn off. I would also like to have a switch so I can turn it on or off. Does anyone know if a write up exists for the 4th gens???? Did I mention that I am an electrical ignoramus??? And my SR5 did not come with lighted running boards so i do not think it is pre-wired.

I'm not aware of anybody here that has done something like that. THe easiet would probably be to hook into the wires from the body ECU that control the interior lights. Then you can just add a switch to it and it should be good. The placement of the lights will also be interesting, especially in the rear footwell area.

ANother sugestion would be to get LED that are a nice soft color, the GX has nice amber lights in the footwell areas that lgihts up bright when you get in adn then goes to a softer light while you drive. Not sure if that is possible with the 4Runner, however te soft light looks and works pretty nice.
