Default 4X4V8's 2005 T4R

Hi,

and as it sits now, in the concrete jungle... hopefully on a trail soon...(still with stock tires )

4X4V8's 2005 T4R V8 in Canada.
My T4R is not merely as nice as some on T120 but it works for what I do.

As it sits now:
-Manik Brush Guard
-Chrome handles
-Midland CB
-Lil Wil antenna
-Lowrance GPS
-Magnaflow muffler with resonator cut out and piepe bent out to the side
-Rear Air Suspension deleted for an OME lift. http://www.toyota120.com/forum/showt...?t=2994&page=2
-ProComp rims and Toyo A/T tires

It came with the factory rear air suspension which has recently been swapped out for an OME lift that custom mounted. I had too many problems with the rear air suspension, and it was more of a nuisance than a convenience.

Sitting in the garage:
-Tail Light Guards

To do:
-match tint on front windows
-Front bumpers
-Tire carrier....
...And the wish list goes on...

Towing Before:

Towing After:

The all pro ones can act as step and a slider, like the one that Robert(my034runner) has.

If only I had the money for a new bumper and sliders. We just totaled our 07 Sequoia so insurance is going to repair it and then we are going to sell it and get a 08 Sequoia. Im on a budget to say the least...

The 08 Sequoias are sweet with the 5.7L, BEEFY!!!! But you should really look into some sliders, and get those running boards off.

I think the shrockworks stick out enough for a step. I'll find out in a few more weeks. An idea I had if the bars are too slick is to put some grip tape on it. The stuff on skateboards. Should work, comes in different colors (black for me) and different grit. Cut it to any size/shape you want.

You really don't want to do that IMO. A few people have done it and anyone who has climbed out of a 4R which has this grip tape loses skin a few times before you learn (some more quickly than others) that you need a technique to get out without scraping skin an trousers.

I use my sliders to reach the roof often, and never slip but they certainly are not as secure as using stock running boards to stand on, due to the smaller surface area.

Hair dryer and goo-gone and it's off if it doesn't work out so well. I do agree that losing skin isn't something I'm keen on doing if I can help it. It's an idea, but I also personally think the sliders by themselves would be fine.

update: (sorry for the camera phone pics and my running boards)

I just got new rims. There were a few deciding factors that made me pick these.
1.) I originally wanted black steelies, but I was afraid of rust
2.) price

I wanted black, but had to settle for these guys. A little too shiny for my likings, buts its the best one i could afford...

Rims:
Pro Comp 1086
17x9, 6 on 5.5 Bolt Pattern
Backspace = 4.75in.
Finish = Polished
Hub Centric = No
Offset = -6mm

Tires:
Toyo Open Country A/T
265/70-17

I had to take off my front mud flaps and they still rub slightly at full turn of the steering wheel.

Nice classic look rims. Can't go wrong with those.

I also highly recommend getting the boards off and sliders on. Aside from the obvious improvement in look (from mall crawler to rock crawler) they really are needed off road. The boards reduce clearance and won't offer any protection. Hit them hard enough and they might cause more damage then protection. I have the Shrockworks sliders. They are bolt on, a relatively easy install, and tuck nicely while offering serious protection. I do use them as a step to get to the top of the truck. My wife and daughter use it as a step getting in. Of course their "step" function isn't as easy as boards, but boards have no use other then a place to step. My opinions of course...it's your truck. Looking good.

I hope to get Sliders one day. When the money permits. Thanks for the input! Im hoping to lose the brush guard too. I was to get a Light Bar or (cross my fingers) a metal bumper....

Update:
The 4runner basically the same. I took off the brush guard that I may put back on. At the end of the month I am taking out the magnaflow muffler for a quieter one (my wife drives it more than me and doesn't appreciate the growl). I have been concentrating more on a trailer that I need to prep for the summer for work. I am trying to find a cover for it. I will keep you guys posted and pics of it when I take it fishing in the spring.
