Should be finished around tuesday or wednesday this week. The main bumper will be done tomorrow and then I'll start on the tire carrier.

Cool Bruce. Wish I knew you were open to this development - it could have been my white runner LOL.

Look forward to seeing the outcome. There's a market for sure.

Definitely a market. Steve w/ CBI is hard to get in touch with. I've been trying for a week.

I still can't believe that there are virtually no regular production bumpers for these trucks.

Is this going to be a one-off for your self or are you going into production?

Steve

Hey Bruce,

Check out this thread at Mud
http://forum.ih8mud.com/200-series-c...y-updates.html

Pretty cool how Slee solved the problem of all that plastic by cutting and integrating it into the new bumper design. Might give some ideas for ver. 2.+??

The 2x4 is 3" above the stock frame location, so there really isn't any way around not cutting the frame if you want more breakover clearance. I cut the frame right where the bottom plate starts to angle upwards. If your worried about this weakening the frame it doesn't, I'll post more picture tomorrow showing you the mounts.

There will be a custom fiberglass section made to fill in above the bumper, similar to Lances. I'll be able to use part of the plastic from the middle bumper section to fill in next to the body under the rear hatch. I could easily cut the side bumper section to fit in the space between the bumper and the body, but the flare work is all gonna be replaced to widen the back to match the front.

Definitely wasn't worried about the piece weakening the frame! It looked like you had cut the crossmember, I was just wanting to confirm... BTW, I think this is definitely the way to go.

Looks awesome!! Awaiting more pics!!!

Interesting idea. I know it's just a prototype, but the plastic looks a little bit unfinished... just a little. I would probably have the metal of the bumper come up still a little further... but maybe not.

Bottom line, it's very cool to see Slee jumping head first into a brand new model like that!!

Just need to grind the welds smooth and fabricate the tire carrier. I added the top plates and rounded the corners today. also made the hinge mounts, tomorrow I'll trim the material out to fit them...

From the back view it looks a bit wide, it's more of an optical illusion.....

Actually, 4x4 labs design is a bit more like Bruce's. He made the first all steel after market bumper for the 4th gen when he made Lances (Goodtimes) bumper!!!
