Here is the spec sheet, for the Truck Vault we have (33"deep X 41"wide X 14.5"high).

There is about a 1.5" gap between the box and the back seat, and about 1" to the back door. A 36" deep box is going to be pushing the space very tight, on a 12" tall drawer.

Edit: Added box dimensions and removed PDF quote - too much personal info for internet.

Wow, that would be very tight. Assuming we took the 1.5" from the back and the 1" from the front, we'd still have to gain at least a half inch from the angle of the seat from being 2.5" shorter. Might have to read the angle on that seat to get a better idea.

36" looks like it will just fit with the outside height being 12". The handle has to be flat though. I measure last night and there seems to be at least 1/2" space left. If worst come to worst you can always shave a little of the backend of the drawer to get it in.
'
The floor to wheelwell top is 10.5 to 11" last I measured. So 12" will be an inch higher.

Also keep in mind that the Truckvault is 14.5" high, so the seat is back a bit more at that height.

Either way I should have time this afternoon to call them and see. I'm currently looking at a 36A on the passenger/fridge side with a 36B on the driver/pooch side.

Yes, my Truck Vault was special ordered at 12" on the inside (14.5" outside). That 2.5" shorter box, might give you just enough room to fit the drawer in place.

My big issue w/ two separate drawers is that there is 41" between the wheel wells. Standard drawers are 20", add in hardwared and you can't fit 2 standard drawers. I think the hardware for the drawers will take 2.5" or more and that makes for 2 very skinny drawers. I was able to make one drawer w/ a divider and some grooves in the drawer to add strength to the drawer floor.

I have a dog box on the CR drawer now. Nothing fancy, just a wire box from petsmart, but the off road dog mod fits nicely in there. Head first though...not tail first. It doesn't go in tail first without a fight. I'll have to find another fabber to do a complimentary dog box. Or learn some new skilz and buy some tools. TIG for Christmas Santa???

Agreed on wasted space, but sometimes it is a trade off.

Anyway spoke to Martin at AT. The drawers should be ready to ship by mid January next year, and shipping cost should not be too high according to him, double digit $$$ by his estimate.

Additionally he was estimating about 40% or so extra for custom made drawers vs similar config using existing drawers.

Andries we've chatted a bit about the storage solutions in the past. I forget the driving reason behind 2 drawers though. Is it for the fridge? So it can sit a bit lower if you do a full 12" on one drawer and 11 or less on the fridge side? Or is it weight capacity on the deck? I carry a lot of weight on mine. My pup is 65lbs and the fridge when loades has to be more than that. I can easily put 200+lbs up there I'm sure. I think you can do a full 12" w/ one drawer and fit a off road dog and fridge no problem.

Why just an off road dog? Couldn't we have a DD (daily doggie?)

I had that Jeep thing... But I went to my local Toyota dealer, bought a 4Runner and it cleared that crap right up.

2 things, 1 the lid becomes a problem getting it open all the way, 2 seeing into the fridge will become difficult. I think even with the shorter drawer it will be wise to change the opening orientation of the lid. (http://forum.ih8mud.com/camping-gear...ened-like.html)

Not sure if Andries has different reasons..

I think you nailed it pretty much. A little lower on the fridge side will help. My truck sits pretty high and I won't be able to really see into the fridge if it sits on a 12" drawer.

I'm also concerned about the weight in each drawer, especially a single drawer which will fit my tools, spares and recovery equipment, with camping stuff. With 2 I can separate the weight out a bit.

All trade offs, but for me it makes sense to sacrifice some space for more functionality.

I fitted the AT drawers. They fitted just fine, now to see how I like the elevated fridge.
