15th Annual Sept Mojave Road trip 2020!

Prinsu rack is the automotive equivalent of skinny jeans. People say the FJ Rack is useless and to get one of them skinny jean racks yet here I am using the **** out of my rack with zero complaints. BTW I added more **** to my rack. I googled to see what a propane tank lasts per burn and it seems like a 20 pound tank lasts 4 hours at high max burn. IT'll easily double that with a regular medium burn.

From having a custom one off rack made that works great, especially with the added security of being a basket...….so when straps come loose, I'm less prone to losing stuff. There is no such security with a flat rack. So, guess there's a learning curve...….and you have to buy a Lot of shlt to make it work, vs just needing ratchet straps, of which I have many!! I got it down to only using three straps to hold all of that shlt that you've seen on my rack......but again, 5" walls really helps when the load shifts!!!

But I'm stuck with this Prinsu one, as it's drilled into the roof, where my034runner custom basket only uses the stock mounting points and is Rock Solid!!

You can get 1/4-20 eye bolts on amazon, they slide into the tracks on the Prinsu and then you can ratchet strap your stuff with as many straps as you want. Maybe get one of those elastic cargo nets for good measure (I used to use one on my Baja Rack on the 4th gen just in case).

I happen to like the flat racks but yes, they do best if you get the dedicated mounting points for whatever you're carrying be it jerry cans, maxtrax, axe/shovel etc. They're also way easier to put an RTT on but I know you don't use one so that's no help.

I have the goofy FJ rack on my truck so we'll see how that works out this triip...because a flat rack is going on there due to needing the clearance.

Yeah, I get it, but nothing will beat my rack on my034runner! No extra parts required!! Just throw it up there, throw on a couple straps, and Never worried about losing anything!! It's really nice to have that basket!!

Maybe down the road I'll see about getting another one built, or just get an ARB.

Okay, aside from this silly Prinsu rack I need to deal with, back to the main topic....Fun on the Mojave Road!!!

If it stays warm, I think we'll stay High as in staying higher in elevation for most of Saturday as well......unless we get a real break in the weather. Mid Hills for lunch on Saturday, Macedonia Canyon down, and then back up into Burro Springs for Saturday nights camp.
Then down and across the lower parts on Sunday in AC!

So I'm bringing a couple of propane cylinders. From my understanding, they wont last long because propane fire pits don't give off much heat like wood fires.

I don’t own any of those and don’t have a need to buy any but I’ll pitch in towards whatever that costs you.

I have one on my garage, not sure if they have to have to be recertified like a co2 tank or not. I imagine they could maybe exchange it for a newer one. I'll have to ask Costco, as they have the cheapest prices on propane.

If I can bring another one, do you think you'll have room to tote it out for the weekend? I think we should be okay with three.....burning on high.

I don't know what I'll have room for. I'm sure as **** not putting that inside the truck and my rack is already a compromise so can't commit to that at all.

Hey Mo,
I'd Really would think twice before picking up that giant trans Before the trip!! And make sure the tanks are in the Upright Vertical tied tightly, but you sure wouldn't want a tranny coming lose on one of the big bumps we'll be hitting and hitting your tanks.
Plus taking up All of your cargo space!!
