You could add a TinyTrak 4 and have APRS.

Hmmm didn't know that was available. Ill have to see if it will work with my radio. I'm not sure if I can get it to transmit on two frequencies at the same time, I'm new to the radio still.

Can't you bolt the separation bracket to the glove box mount? alternatively I 3m taped mine to my panavise mount. Works great.

Try this site. The mounting system on the 350R/AR makes things challenging. You could also try the Pro Clip bracket that is similar to the Panavise in-dash bracket.

The proclip bracket is the one I have. Maybe I will try double sided sticky tape but I'm not sure if it will clearance. I'll just have to wait until I get it back from the dealer

Looks pretty good, I think I'll try to work out something like that when I get my truck back

Guys, I'm looking at a setup very similar to this. The one variation I want to make is that I'm not keen on putting the mount on body sheet metal due to body damage risk like this, or worse, which would happen the very first time I pull into my garage forgetting to take the antenna off. I'd rather damage factory roof rack, mount, antenna, etc all before sheet metal (shudder).

Instead I'm thinking about mounting using a roof rack clamp type mount... say this Diamond K515SNMO Luggage Rack Mount

Are there any known drawbacks to this I should be aware of? One I can see is that it would be the highest point of the vehicle and a net increase in total vehicle height....

The Diamond K515SNMO Luggage Rack Mount should be fine mounted to the roof rack rails. The Diamond K400 that most of us have mounted on the rear hatch hasn't been a problem. On the trails, I have had a full length antenna snag a tree branch and move the mount, but did not damage the sheetmetal on the hatch. Not to persuade you from the rail mount idea, just my experience.

For me, I usally have my Comet SBB1 rubber flex antenna mounted 90% of the time, so I don't have to worry about folding a full length antenna down every single time I park inside my garage. It's something less to worry about... if you forget. I'll only use a full length antenna on the road or trails without so many low hanging tree branches.
