Exclamation 15th Annual Sept Mojave Road trip 2020!

Okay boys and girls.…….September 18-21 2020...…..it's that time again!!! Yep, time for the Fall September Mojave Road trip!! Especially for all of you poor bastards in Kal who have been ordered to stay home!!
Just so Y'all know..….it really is okay to leave your damn houses and travel!!! Everyone got scared for the Easter trip, yet the park had people all over the place......but yet keeping their distance and everyone was super cool and it was a good time!

The 21st is a Monday, and is optional.....but I and Cleo will definitely be out there all four days.

I'll post up more soon, but wanted to at least give Y'all a month to plan on how to escape your houses and come out and play!!!

We can adjust our meal stuff and what not, so no one gets contaminated, keep our chairs around the campfire 6' apart...…we'll all be just fine!!!

So, sign up and get out people!!!!!!!!!

15 years already? Crazy.

Time to break the new rig’s Mojave Rd cherry. Barring any unforeseen disasters I’ll make it along with my Cleo.

Cleo ls riding in Your 4Runner?

Oh, wait.....I forgot you also have a Cleo! LOL!!

Oh, and yeah...….need to get a second battery in there pronto though, need extra power for the fridge. Ram mount for the I Pad, figure out where the hell am I going to put everything...….Full size spare, extra gas, water, water tank for power shower, etc...etc...etc....
Probably don't need the giant black and yellow Costco tote full of fluids, jack stands, and all kinds of miscellaneous stuff in it......which btw, weighs about 100 lbs and is Really hard to get on the roof by myself......and just as hard to get Off of the roof!!!
I'm so used to being the Eagle Scout who is Always prepared when we go out.....for almost anything! Remember the trip where Mike from Ft Irwin came out and needed a new serpentine drive belt.....I was the only one to have one, thus a Lot quicker trail fix than having to have someone drive 100 miles to go buy one somewhere and drive back!!

Instead of a second battery under the hood, I’ve been giving serious consideration to one of those “solar generator” lion or lifepo4 units and just recharge from 12v or 120v underway and solar during the day if you’re in camp for more than just a night. Use that to power the fridge and whatever else. A lot more versatile, and portable, than a battery and associated charging relays and cables. Only thing they can’t really do is jump the truck if the starting battery goes dead but since you have an aud power source, shouldn’t be anything running off the truck electrics when parked.

That and the fact that the 2020 has so much crap under there, even compared to other fifth gens, makes it hard to find a place for a second battery is really making me consider that.

As for the rest, iPad mount is easy. Gpscity.com is a local ram mount dealer. They have almost everything in stock so you can get it in a day or three shipped.

Totes and what not, have fun. If I haven’t used something in years, it needs not to come with me.

I have a blown CV boot right now, so no dirt roads at all for me, let alone 4x4, until I can get it fixed.

Dude, you, unlike me, are pretty mechanically inclined, fix it and move on!! If you can pull an engine, you should be able to replace a cv boot in less than an hour!!!
Love you bro, but damn the excuses.....man up and get the fu(k outside out of y'all's BS lockdown!!! There's a whole world out there just waiting for people to leave their Lock Down and explore!! And this one isn't that far of a drive for anyone in SoKal!!

Everyone was too scared to go outside for Easter, but yet the park was full of other people enjoying nature!! Sorry guys, I'm tired of this covid shlt, and want everyone to be safe, but you can still get out, wheel, camp and have a great time and still be safe at the same time!!

Oh, and here's a bit of extreme sad news, well...….at least for me, as this my favorite place to go!!!

Dome Fire at Mojave National Preserve outside Las Vegas burns 40K acres

This is up on the Cima Dome, and has already destroyed much of that area, Sunrise Rock (Mojave Cross) and has apparently already gone up and over Kessler's Peak and perhaps the Ivanpah Mountain Range. Lets hope they get a handle on this and Not burn the damn park to the ground!!!

It's too hot to even go outside, let alone think about taking the front of my truck apart.

Damn, you certainly wouldn't last long here!! Lol!! You think You're Hot!! LOL!!!

If you lived in Palm Springs/Desert.....then I'd be on your side! Lol!! Sorry mate, you know I have to give you shlt!!

Anyway, fire will be out and temps will be lower by the 18th of Sept. I ordered nice weather, always have to pay extra for it!!

Oh yeah, your local Toyota store can do it while you wait, or pick up your truck, fix it, and bring it back to you.....so there's that!!!

Palm Springs is only a couple degrees hotter than I am on average, and honestly I can't tell the difference between 107 and 112. Last year I had more days over 100 than my buddy in Tucson! We couldn't believe it.

Might as well start..……The List!!!

I know it's a scary world out there right now...….but Y'all need to branch outside of quarantine Ville and get back out to Nature!!

1: Robert and Cleo (dog)
2:
3:
4:
5:
6:
7:

If we end up with more, or less.....we can always adjust the #'s on The List!! Plus, 7 is the limit before I need to apply for a NPS Special Use Permit. So, if you're committed to go, add yourselves.....so I know if I need to go through the Permit process!!
Thanks

Right on Mo....
Oh, btw...…..

Incident Type: Wildfire
Updated: 23 hrs. ago
Size: 43,273 Acres
Contained: 95%

Too damn bad they can't get the other bigger fires under control too!! At least.....so far, they are doing pretty good out in the Mojave!
JP and I are going out there tomorrow for a shakedown and check things out and whatnot.
