Default Mikey's Build....

Ok so after all of the at our last run about the "other" forum, I thought I should throw up my build thread as of today.

So here we go.

It all started with a bone stock silver SR5 4x4...

I think I de-badged it the second day I had it...

Then I decided to Paint my front emblem matte black (not a fan of the chrome)...

Put a little safety in...it rattled a bit much so it is in the process of being moved...

Next up, OW/Radflo 2.5 kit with Light Racing UCAs. Thanks Andries....

With the suspension, came a set of wheels and tires...

The combined made it look like this...

Decided to black out the lower chrome strips and foglight bezels...

Today I started to work on my storage...

Stock...

And then it began...

Framing finished and turn buckles in place...

So my question now is should I do one big drawer? Or two separate drawers. They aren't perfect, but I saved a heck of a lot of $$$$$$ doing it on my own. I think I made 4 trips to OSH today and one to Home Depot. Tomorrow is sanding, figuring the drawers out, and looking for hardware.

Shrockworks sliders should be shipped on Monday, so the build will continue.

How much does the top flex in the center and do you plan on putting things on top of it? If it flexes at all, or if you plan on putting things on top of it, I would run a divider down the center and go with two drawers.

Paint, stain, or carpet?

It doesn't flex much, but I am leaning on two drawers just for the reason of putting weight on top. Mostly it would be bags, don't intend on getting a fridge anytime soon.

I am going to paint it black once I get the drawers in, then put my rear black mat on top of that. Keep it some what stock looking when viewed through a window.

I was just messing with you guys

Luv the black outs, the chrome is a little too bling for me. Great to have none pavement build pics.

Good point on dividing it into two, also probably easier to organize your gear/tools.

Build is coming along nicely. After Holister, any plans for sliders and skids?

Sliders will be shipped either tomorrow or tuesday, hopefully. So they will be on for the next trip out.

What size tires are you running? 285's? Does the spare fit in the space?

Yeah, waiting on Shrockworks to see what they will offer. Really don't like the ARB and Demello hasn't confirmed if he is going to go into production for the 5th. I think Perkins is about to make a prototype too.

Running 285s right now. Still need to get a FJ steel wheel to get the full size spare. But yes, I heard and seen photos on the "other forum" with guys having the full size spare underneath.

Are you going to go BIGGER now that the lift is in?

Soooooo, decided on two drawers. Tomorrow I see if I can track down some heavy duty sliders to finish the project.

Now there is absolutely no flex in the deck, ready for the ARB fridge.

I like. Really like the wheel and tire combo too. I think the duratracs are in the tire future for me too.

Home depot sells them, they have roller bearings in them for smooth opening/closing as well.
