Default shallcallhimtim build

Ive been lurking on here for a long time and I finally thought I would move my build over here too!

So i picked up my 4runner in November of 2011 and have loved it since. ITs an 04 v8 4x4. When i got it had roughly 140k mostly highway miles and looked almost brand new!

I want to build this more as a expo/camping rig
So list of things done
- OME 885s and 5100s
- 285s
- custom roof rack
- 40 inch led bar
- cb with 3 foot firestick
- LR upper control arms
- rear CBI Hybrid 4th gen bumper

Things to be done
- custom sliders about to get welded on
- skids all designed
- finish roof rack
- bumpers (CBI front hopefully by Christmas)
- many many other things

I started with a 91 Landcruiser and when that died i need something new.

day i bought it

So after about two weeks i got tired of the stock look.

toytec spacer lift and superflex coils in the rear also ditched the runningboards and did a CB around the same time.

After the lift I got a job up in east Idaho and also decided to get back into school. We have a pretty nice wheeling spot that we hit up on the weekends.

So after about a yar of driving with the lift and stock tires i was kinda getting tired of the little tires. I bought a set of michelin LTX A/T2 from a buddy.

What a difference! these are amazing! i did have a little rubbing like most people but its no big deal.

So I finally got around to installing my rock lights. I took out one of the screws in the fender and put the light in the hole.

I plan I putting the other ones I have in the back kinda like I did the front.

I bent up a brake line drop bracket a while ago and finally got around to putting it on the truck.

So for my birthday I picked up a 40inch led bar. I got the harness in today but no bar :sobbing:. I got an email later saying that there was a mix up with the shipping and that the bar will be here Wednesday!

The delay of my Led bar works for me cuz this means I can finish my rack. Im going with the same style as the Baja for 5th gens and fjs.

This is what it should look like, but knowing me ill probably change some things so I can get it finished faster.

Im trying to catch up with some of yall!
We spend a lot of time out in the desert so I know this will get good use!

So heres some more pictures of the rack getting built and getting on the truck.

getting the Led bar all set up

got everything bolted on and took it for a shake down run

I went to LA for my roommates wedding and had to amazing opportunity to leave my rig with CBI Offroad so they could do a little R&D and test fit some new items they are working on.
the Happy couple

OK! now on to the stuff you guys want to see!

Nathan sent me this this morning and I should have the truck back this afternoon! There are other things that they are going to do to the truck so im going to leave it with them again over Christmas while im in Texas. lets just say there might be a lighter rear option for us 4th gen guys

So for Thanksgiving I made the tip out to Boise to see some family and shoot some birds. Got to play around with the 4runner while I was there. My uncle build rock crawlers and had a random set of 37s lying around so I saw if they would fit.

just some 37s, no big deal

I think they would fit with a little massaging

Also got the ditch lights all wired up. I pulled the lights off to take them inside to solder them up and I came out to this!!!
I was literally inside for like 30 minutes and came out to 3 inches!!!

Anyway let there be light!!!

This thing is crazy light and build to take a beating! The main tube that runs closest to the truck is (if I remember correctly) 2inch tube with a 1/4 wall so it can take the same abuse as the plate. Also, the weight... 75/80lbs roughly. I picked it up with one arm. With a swing out I think it will top out at close to 100lbs maybe more with your options.

Please let me kno what you guys think. I think it looks pretty bad ass but I'm trying to get some feed back for the guys in the shop so let me know!

We put some of the trim around the edge of the plastics just like they do when they cut the bottom of the beds on the Tacoma.

Took care of some wiring and repainted my ditch light brackets

Also polished my head lights

So I was on my way to do some night skiing and this happened.

I hit some ice and took out a stop sign... I died inside when this happened.

So ive had this pile of parts burning a hole in my floor, so I finally got around to getting them on!

I only got one side done cuz we were setting up a new link system in one of the crawlers. The side I got done though is about an inch taller than the spacers.

Looks like you guys are having too much fun.

I double dare you to fit the 37s on the 4Runner

Fortunately I don't get Mike's comment about forum name, etc.

Lookin good, nice fab skills on the rack. You love in a great place, I love the Teton/Targhee area and eastern ID. We usually make it up to the Henry's once a year, this year I am going to head up to Montana though.

Where abouts in Montana? I'll be on a pack trip in the Bob Marshall wilderness in August.

nothing new on the 4runner except that I finally got some spidertrax on the rear and I have a 1.5 rear spacer on the way to fix the lean.

Also picked this dime up! 2000 Yamaha xt350 $750 and it runs like a dream!

You need a bit more gap beneath the head light, you should be able to slide your fingers between there to allow for the body to move relative to the frame.
