Default Turkey weekend exploration trip

Ok so I know that Thanksgiving is a family weekend, but don't some of you want to get away from it after Thursday?

AJ has thrown out going on a trip early Friday morning for a couple of nights. I know I am actually off that time and I am willing to go too.

So who else is in? Where should we go?

AJ you better say you still are in...

Still in!

I just want to wheel, maybe do some fishing, and crush some beers around a campfire at night. With that being said, I haven't been to Stanislaus National Forest, but I'm also not sure if there's any wheeling.

Anyway, open to go anywhere

Looks like Stanislaus National Forest has a lot of places to explore. However, probably not super technical.

Slick Rock sounds like fun. Hopefully it'll be dry.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread. May shoot up for a night and do a run the next day. Just worried about temps and weather.

I'll put a run together in the next few days and posted it up as an alternative to Slick Rock. Probably be a desert run maybe start around Bodie and go south past Mono Lake and head south in the dirt.

Just heard from my buddy that 108 and 120 are already closed because of snow so the only route to Bodie would be up 50 to Lake Tahoe and down. He is heading to Bishop this weekend and has to go through Tahoe or Bakersfield.

My understanding is that Slick rock closes after Labor Day?
As of yesterday, Bear Valley already has snow on the ground too so most likely, Slick rock is closed.

I'm always up for a Truckee, Stampede reservoir, Tahoe trip. Mild trails but great look outs up around truckee and can be a long day trip if needed but can easily catch a motel for the night too.

Keep me posted as Dorothy myself and Tristan might be able to do a day trip or motel sleeping trip.

Mono Lake would be cool to check out as well. Is cow mountain up there at well? I think I remember that being pin stripe city though.

I suggest we camp at Lundy Lake one night. Looks like a great place for camping and fishing.

I'll join you guys for this trip. Eagle Lakes/Pierce OHV could be fun up near Truckee depending on how much snow they get.
