as for performance, its a blast to hit some high speed stuff. the rear just really feels planted. On road it feels like i am driving a caddy. My buddy drove it today to pick up a part and when he got back he wanted to dump his 87 PU toyota for the runner. He was very impressed with how nice it was to drive.

If your close/in San diego stop by and ill let you try it out for yourself.

Cruiserman,

I love the color of your truck! At the time my option was Black or Silver.

I noticed you don't have anything to protect your resi hose from chaffing. I use this black Spiral Wrap on all six of the hoses, It's about 1/16" thick. I first noticed some rubbing on the upper A arm and hose.

Loose, thanks for the complement! the picture of your truck flexing was the final selling point to ordering the kit from MT.

Thanks for the info, ill get some ASAP.

Good night those things add some flex!
I know a rear bumper weighs around 180 plus 80-90 lbs for an over sized tire/wheel. I inquired with MT about the extra weight and they said it was meant for stock and not the added weight as described above. Sounds like it might handle it okay though.

I have an update to my rear suspension setup, initially I removed the spring isolator on the left rear side and added the 1.5" spacer. I will either add the isolator back or remove it from the right side to further level the back from L to R. I'm not concerned about any noise as the springs are coated in plastic and I can turn the radio up

Concerning the Metal Tech progressive springs, the upper half is rated at 105 lbs and the lower half is rated at 250 lbs. Some had asked the question.

Ha ha, you did start this thread.

No the lugs did not fit the wheels, in order to make them work would require to mill the wheels...no worries. Maybe I will use them on another project down the road.

Sorry to hear, I was just reading your other posts about the lugs and thought you were referring to the ones I sent you. About to pull the trigger on some longer studs myself.

Do you need a p/n? And source?

I was looking at those and the basic Dorman ones, which are a lot cheaper and can get in the right quantity.

So, finally got this kit and installed. Went with the Icon 2.0s, MT LT HD springs with a 1.5" Daystar on the driver side, a set of lower links I built myself, bump drops I built, and Goodridge brake lines from a group buy on TW. Besides the pretty big loss in up travel from the collapsed length of the Icons, I expect this kit to work very well. Pics below are without my bumper or spare, so that will bring the rear down a bit, I did not get before and after measurement compared to the Toytec springs, but there is currently a 2" rake, rear fender at ~40" with 265s and 1" BL, the front will drop too once I build a front bumper.

Gosh that rear flex is pretty crazy, Looking at MetalTech's lower links and how they're offset I am now realizing why they did that. Didn't think it would be a factor with rubbing/binding on the rear axle but with flex like that!

I knew there was a reason they made them like that, and in retrospect probably should have made them in the same manner, and may change them up in the future. As far as cost, I made these for around $100 less than they sell theirs for, and could have made them with one side bushed for even less as the bushings are cheaper than the heims, so I am glad I went this route as opposed to buying theirs but they obviously did their homework when putting the kit together. I should mention that beyond this kit, anyone getting into serious droop numbers will run into this as a limiting factor. In cycling the suspension while setting it up, the next limit looks to be the upper link on the gas tank as Loose mentions a few pages back.

LOL. I still see the limited up travel as a drawback straight out of the box, but there are ways around it. My newest thoughts are to lower the lower shock mounts, which will probably be easier than raising the upper, or maybe a little on each end.
