Default Quick trip to Death Valley Favorites

Over easter weekend I and a friend of mine in a stock 05 SE went to Death Valley. We try to go at least once a year.

This year it was Flower viewing at Badlands Road, then checked out Butte Valley, then Eureka Dunes and Steel Pass, then Saline Valley, and back out via North Pass to 395 and Bishop.

First time in Death Valley with a real suspention (OW) and decent tires. I was blown away - 55 MPH over rough washboard, hitting washes, etc - only limiting factor was steering was way too dodgy at those speeds. Scraped a stock step-tube on a boulder going too fast around a corner, can't wait for sliders to arrive!

Here are some pics:

Going into Butte Valley

Stock 05 SE going over Steel Pass. Some running board damage, the rest gently taken on the frame

Going over North Pass got stuck in a snow storm. Virgin snow, heck ya!
Lower elevations:

Going up to the pass:

Overall a great trip, great variety of terrain, rocks, washboard, snow. Great camping at Eureka Dunes and Saline Valley.

I would love to organize a 120 trip out there sometime in the Fall perhaps. There is nothing too technical in Death Valley but its great exploring and great camping in desolate areas.

Great pix!!! DV has so many special areas and exploring.

I definitely want to spend more time DV soon. Wanted to do a trip in April, but still haven't gotten round to doing the maintenance and fine tuning on my truck. However I do want to make it a trip with some high speed runs, which will require good tires and suspension.

This is my 5th trip out there, past 2 trips always on stock X-Terra Off-Road and that 05 SE. Compared to those, OW+Tires cuts travel time on rough terrain in HALF.

Where I was going 55 the stock was going 35. If everyone has that, we can cover a lot of ground/spend more time boozing.

That was the idea, plus we can do a pre-run for guys with LT setups to really fly through sections
