Default Hollister Hills Trail Cleanup Day - October 23, 2010

Greetings All,

Last year, approximately 40 trucks volunteered for a cleanup day at Hollister Hills. This year, we hope to have more so we can cover the entire Upper Ranch.

Date: Saturday, October 23, 2010
Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM-ish (lunch will be provided)
Location: Hollister Hills SVRA
Please RSVP your name and the forum (Toyota 120) that referred you to James by Monday, October 18. His email is: mobworthy (at) gmail.com.

We broke up into groups of about five rigs each and worked out which group was going to cover which area. We recovered a lot of material, mostly bottles, cans and disposable goggle lenses. After that, we returned to Area 5 for a nice BBQ and then hit the trails for fun.

BTW, this happens to fall on Make a Difference Day 2010, so I can't think of a better way than to make a difference with a little fun on the trails mixed in.

We could sure use some more help. Hope to see you there!

We were there last year and although not many from here signed up we made a effort to pack some trash out. Will do so again with our PPHHR run on the 23rd

Maybe we can do a section of the overall cleanup effort?

Are they dividing the ranch in sections for the cleanup?

yes, last year each group was assigned a certain area of the park. we got the area that consisted of Chaparral, Chine and Blue Oak roads. i think it all depends on how many trucks attend. hope to catch ya there with your Trasharoo!

I'm in for the help. Though are we driving through the trails and cleaning it up? Hmmm... If that is to happen, I may need to ride with someone, since my baby is on the obese side.

yes, pretty much drive, stop, get out, collect garbage, get in, drive, stop, repeat. we spaced our trucks out about 20 yards apart. that being said, you may be able to clean Area 5 rather than hit the trails.

also, just a reminder to all to RSVP to James sometime tomorrow, Monday the 18th if you plan on joining in on the cleanup and complimentary lunch. mobworthy (at) gmail.com

quick update: check-in time is 9:30 AM. the meeting spot has changed to the main camping area next to the old obstacle course. enter through the main gate by the schoolhouse. no need to pay the park fee at the ranger station. either the gate will be open or there will be someone there to let you in. you will be given your day pass once you arrive at the camping/day use area.

Area 5 is apparently booked, hence the change in meeting location and check-in procedure. see y'all there!
