Default Colorado shakedown

Put in the MT long travel rear with some custom Kings instead of the Icons. Had to do a quick shakedown to test it.
6 days in central and SW Colorado. Went solo so I drove, camped, and stopped to eat/drink where I wanted.
I ran the following trails:

North and Middle Fork Swan River
Georgia Pass
Redcone
Webster Pass
Mosquito Pass
Pearl Pass
Montezuma Basin
Paradise Divide
Devil's Punchbowl
Mineral Creek
Engineer Pass
Wager Gulch
American Basin
Cinnamon Pass
Black Bear Pass
Imogene Pass

No carnage and the new suspension setup is sick.

Nice photos. Need to make it out to Colorado soon.

Did you spec the Kings the same as MT does for the Radflo/ICONs? Trying to figure if I can get some shocks with a little shorter stroke so the gas tank rubbing doesn't occur and I get a bit more up travel for fast desert runs.

They're 17.5" compressed and 28.5" extended. Pretty sure that's really similar to the Icons. 3" bump stop drops, but could probably run 2" drops with smaller tires.
You can trim the tank skid. It's easy with an angle grinder. I even retained the mounting point others have cut off. That extra droop is amazing. I ran some pretty gnarly stuff and the droop kept the rear tires engaged.

Awesome pics! Jealous you guys are so close to areas like that.

Is that a CBI rear bumper?

Now that's a trail list. Nice work the truck looks sick. Next time you head out give me a holler. We did Pearl Pass and Taylor Pass last weekend, fun trails.

What drives needing the bump stop extensions? Is it just tire clearance or can the shock not stroke in that far?

I'm looking at the MT kit but also want to use different shocks. I'd like more travel but don't want reduce upward travel with bump stop extensions. I can stuff 35 inch tires to the stick stops so I figure maybe shock travel is the limiting factor. Any idea?

I'd search for 'MetalTech Long Travel Kit" and find your answers, a bunch of people have added some good info in there. It might be over on the other site.

Thanks for pointing me to this report, very nice, great pics too! We hit most of the same places this season but it took us two separate trips. Thanks again for your helping me out today replacing my CV and all the other little things along the way. I'm very appreciative that you spent the time educating me and getting my truck ready for Moab next week. I owe you one and hope to wheel with you before too long!

Nice photos. Southern Colorado is prime 4runner territory.
