Default Ellis Peak Trail - Lake Tahoe, CA 2015

Hi All,

I ran Ellis Peak Trail this past weekend, and just wanted to share some pictures.

The trail itself is only about 20 miles, but it's a slow trek due to the rocky terrain - took me about 3 hrs. There are some semi-smooth dirt areas, but for the most part it's all avocado to large pumpkin sized rocks.

The 4Runner fit perfectly along the trail, but anything wider will experience some nice pinstripes. I didn't see a hefty branch and got a nice line on my rear fender flare.

Overall, it was a fun trail and I recommend it if you're in the area. I ran it North to South and rarely ran into other explorers. A stock vehicle could probably tackle it, but having aggressive tires help.

Came across this downed tree and randomly ran into another 4runner owner - Cool dude named Chris

Quick stop at Bear Lake

Then I came upon this abandoned truck on the side of the trail

Don't want to know what was in the jars, but he did leave a nice note for his friend..."Chuck, On foot, drunk. Pick us up on your way in."

The end of the trail drops you out at the start of the Rubicon trail where you'll see more than two dozen trucks and trailers.

Wish I could have seen some more crawlers, but this was the only one out there when I completed the trail

Sweet. What tire size are you running? Truck looks beefy.

Got it. I tracked your build down on the other site. Good sized tire on there, beefy.

I love the tires. Not too noisy on the freeway, and they seem to be wearing down pretty evenly. While on the trails, I usually air down to about 18 and they have been very comfortable and more than capable.

They are a bit pricey and heavy, but I highly recommend them and would purchase them again.

Cool pix!!

I love my Toyos as well, they have been very tough and great traction on rocks, the sidewall thread really works well.

How do you like those Lightforce 240's with Amber covers? I'm debating getting those or just some led bars...

They are bright and fire a great distance, but I think a LED bar is the more practical choice. I'm currently looking into getting a Rigid E-Series, but there are too many options! The ones that I'm considering are:
  • 20 or 30" Amber/White combo
  • 20 or 30" E2 combo

Think Chris (looks like the same one) is on this site. I know he lives up there. Took me out to eagles lake a few years ago. Super nice dude.

Oh and I am down to run it some time.

Found his name, Casper421.

Sent 1s and 0s.
