Default 11th Annual NVTTORA Easter Mojave Road trip!!

Sorry for the real late trip report............just been busy trying to catch up and make some $$$!!!!

Anyway, Thursday night while packing up.......I almost completely destroyed my garage door..........then up three extra hours in the middle of the night, trying to fix it enough to where I could get my truck Back inside.......then figure out how to close it......and then the reverse in the morning......and well, it sucked and caused my tardiness by about an hour to hour and a half late........

But, everyone was at the same spot together, so no chasing anyone.........then we were off!!

Unfortunately, right after crossing the Needles Highway, we lost a few trucks.......I'm like, shlt.....That didn't take long!!! After going back to grab them.......we got going again........until it happened again!!! So, it was a bunch of that early on, until everyone got it together and got into a tighter group, and we were good to go!!

Had lunch and gave folks the chance to sight see at Fort Paiute.......and then hit the road and went on over the Paiute Mountains......and over to the Paiute Gorge, always a great place top see!!

Back on the road, to the School bus stop to pay a visit.....and load up ant tardy school kids!! LOL!

Hit the twisty section and went to the Penny Can, bypassing the Lanfair Petroglyphs......and onward to Caruthers Canyon......as we were running late and had to get up to camp.

Three of the other four trucks, led by my buddy Rich (Our Master Toyota tech).....were supposed to get up there a Lot earlier than they did.......probably about three hours later than they were supposed to be.....and it was their job to secure our campsite at Cock Rock, but they kind of blew it, and lost my #1 site to a single truck which took up the site. They did land another spot, and one that we had been to before, and also very nice spot for a big group.
We had one more truck come in from Las Vegas later on in the night, after most of us had finished up dinner and had moved on to Drinking!!!

Unfortunately, my buddy Dan decided to bring their new small teardrop trailer, which is Not set up for the Mojave Road yet......so Rich was in charge of him, as they wouldn't have been able to keep up with the rest of us, and they went on to secure our campsite for Saturday night.....and at least did manage to get there for the # 1 spot at Beale Mountain.......so that worked out!!

Food and drink ensued again, although, for some reason......camp seemed to be fragmented not everyone hanging as a group, and we were also battling some fairly strong winds for a few hours.

....................................

Rock piles are your friend. Traveling east to west, you’re heading the right direction as long as they’re on your right side.

The girlfriend did an amazing job with packing the meals. My favorite was a cold soba salad that was perfect for our lunch breaks in the warm desert heat.

If you see a bunch of lush greens in the desert, there’s water nearby. Top of the hill at Fort Pah-Ute

The guys discussing their favorite cartoon characters

Our awesome leader, Robert - Really appreciate the historical facts he provided during the drives.

I really wanted to see a rattlesnake, but this was the only reptile I saw all weekend.

A reminder to future travelers, do not shoot at property that does not belong to you.

Mikey’s fiancé wasn’t able to make it, but we’ve got Photoshop, so it’s all good.

I love the “e” written in black

After a long 5-6 hrs worth of driving (average speed was 11mph), we approach our camp for the night.

SUPER windy that night, but everyone was up and ready for the new day.

Back on the trail…

Showing off some of that Metal Tech LT flex (LOVE the flex, but dislike the limited up travel. I might be updating my rear suspension soon…)

After a break at Kelso Depot, we made a short trip to our campsite at Beale Mountain

Alright ladies and gents, beware of the picture dump!
But first, big thanks to Robert - the insight and planning that you gave us on this trip was amazing, and loved all the knowledge. And a special thanks for point out the "Bunch of sticks, stocking up out of the ground"

As for everyone else, it was a great pleasure- thanks for your patience with the full size american trucks, and all of us young newbies! (Not to mention everyones amazing food!)

Alright, here's the pics!!!
(Also follow me on instagram for more + videos @TheAdventureIndex )

I will also be producing a Youtube video, but that may be a couple months..... please send me your video footage!!!

Meeting in Laughlin before going to the trailhead....

Air Down time, 25psi, thanks Mark for helping me with the speed bleeders!

The Largest Canyon on the Trip.

We then got to camp, and I relaxed- no camera! - The next Morning.....

Arrived at Campsite Numero Dos, Windier than all hell - but what a view! (not to mentioned the wind calmed down after some rounds of cards in the Awning Room

I then Proceeded to cook with half the wine, consume the rest, and pump out some steak!

The next day, we headed towards the Mojave Mail Box, left some bubbles & fruit snacks, signed the log.

Volcanic Rock

The Lava Tubes were amazing- thanks again for finding my sunglasses Mike!
HDR Of the Tube.(My personal favorite picture of the trip)

Aj Glowing

Phil, aka 5 Star -> Kidnapped by aliens

Hey Look, a pile of rocks! (Soda Lake)

Cropped As best Possible

Final section of driving was by far, my favorite, soft dune sand, riving crossings, and chasing the sunset through canyons and rivers!
Got up to 65mph in some sections
woo!

Lastly, on the way home, I discovered that the chassis bolt for my Passenger-rear Lower Link, had fallen out!!!! No wonder it was pulling to the right on pavement :O
Thank's to Phil's quick Macgyver action, and my mediocre assistance, we were back on the road within 45minutes- and home by 5:30am

I've got two sets of video of everyone crossing the final river.- this will be included in my Youtube video
If anyone wants high res photos please let me know! (They will also be on my website.... eventually....lol

Thanks again guys, looking forward to seeing your photos! (Also Mike I can photoshop your fiance in! haha)

Aj- those pics of my truck are amazing!

Nice photos Adam. I remember coming back from Shaver Lake and my rear link bolt in the frame came out. Wallowed every which way. Now I use a drop of loctite on everything just in case. Also need to have the mounts replaced at some point, the rocks are destroying mine. Hahah

Have not been off-roading in a couple of years. I did rebuild the entire front end of my truck though. I also upgraded the axle on my trailer from torsion springs to leaf springs which gave it a bit of a lift. I'm all ready to go. In a couple or three years when my girls are old enough we will head out again. HA. My truck has about 1,000 miles on it in the past two years and sits in my driveway connected to a trickle charger. I am going elk hunting this year though so that will be fun.
