Default 120 Cooled Centre Console

Hello guys,

I was doing some thinking today after my friend with a Grande was saying how awesome his center console fridge is.

I first thought i should look for a grande fridge and just install that, but after looking through the forums, the general consensus is that you cant move the grande fridge to the GXL...

so plan b...I know in many cars with 'refrigerated' glove-boxes/centre consoles the 'refrigeration' is just a pipe to the aircon... so along that same line has anyone who has taken their center consoles apart think there may be the room to install a pipe to the front AC and bring cool cool air to the centre console? Can anyone see possible problems with this?

Cheers

There's already an HVAC air feed running directly beneath the center console that serves the two rear vent, you could tap right into that. Problem is it will heat the console, too, when you run the heater.

Hmm, not sure on the Prados but the 4Runner LTD and Lexus GX has a front split for passenger and river side AC temp control. I believe the Grande is the same, not sure on the GXL. But basically you need to tap into the A/C side of the HVAC unit before the heating element gets mixed in to only run cold air to the console. I believe the Grande uses this split level heating to provide only cold air to the console. In your case you may have to do some interested plumbing to achieve that.

Otherwise you can potentially wire in a thermo electric cooler setup (have seen those on Fords). Doesn't get as cold as running A/C, but will help. An option to look at it you can't figure out the A/C plumbing.
