Default Rear chain clearance on 33" tires

It is about time I decide what I want to do for tires for this winter season, and I think my decision comes down to this: can I still fit chains on the rear if I get 285/70/R17's? I plan to get the 7mm square link chains from TireChains.com. I am willing to trim plastic but I do not want a body lift. From bulldog's thread on 35's I know it took a body lift and dropped bump-stops to clear 35" tires. I am thinking that 33" tires with chains will be almost that size, so without a BL etc. this should not be possible, however I think I have read about people running chains on 33's on trucks that did not appear to have a visible body lift so maybe it is possible with care or work?

Who has actual experience with this and which specific tires and chains were you using?

It really depends on how much you want to flex the rear with the chains on. Just level there should be goid clearance, but once the axle flexes you will need a lot of room. I don't see how 33s will flex with chains without hitting the fenders.

Thanks bulldog. I suppose that explains why some people seem to get away with this. It's still a hard decision as I want the flotation and grip of 33's but probably I will have to go with 265/70/17, the stock size for 5th gens.
