Thumbs up Holcomb Creek Trail

I finally made it back up to Big Bear on Sunday to run Holcomb. It was a great trip, with some good wheelin' & excellent scenery. The fires didn't get this area, so the trail was well shaded. We only ran into one Jeeper at the first garden & 3 at the second, so the trail was all ours. This was one of the funnest trails I've done & will try to get back before winter & give another shot on Dishpan & try to hit John Bull while I'm at it. The pics are here: http://community.webshots.com/user/JP4Crawler.

My brother is in the XJ, pops in the JGC & me leadin' the way in the 4R.

Nice photos Jason. I assame you did all of Holcomb. After the rock garden, you pass over a smal stream at the bottom of a hard right turn. This is where we got to a few weeks back. What is the trail like after that point. Any more difficult in your opinion?

Thx
Mark

We went from Crab Flats side to 3N14, I think you guys went the same way. We did make the whole trail unscathed. There is one more rock garden about 3 miles in, that's pretty intimidating, as the boulders are bigger than at the begining, but after getting thru, I think it was actually easier. The bigger rocks helped lift you over the spots that seemed like they would be a problem. It was a lot of fun. There are a couple of other scetchy spots along the trail, but nothin' compared to the 2 gardens. No one on this forum would have any problems, just some spotting required.

Great pix and feedback. You guys were running in the opposite direction of what we were running Holcomb. Next time we will definitely do this trail and hopefully Disphan and/or John Bull.

Looks like fun, makes me want to go back again

No wonder I couldn't figure out where your pics were from. I thought it was just the angle or something. Makes sense now.

You guys got thru the tuffest spot, just the final garden before the end(begining) is a little challenge, ie; fun. The tree stump in the middle of the road towards the end(beginning for you), made for some comedy watchin' my dad & bro try to get over that. The 4R walked right over it. I'll be back soon for sure.

We had our fun with the tree stump going back as well. I had to pull Joyce over as her tires didn't have enough bite to pull up and over.

Good shots. All those rocks scare me, though... I'll stick to dirt for a while.

You thought those tires were bad, you should see what I have on right now for a race on Sunday
