Hurricane Creek Trail - WNC

Headed out on the Hurricane Creek trail here in WNC. Read reports of it on the internets so I did not expect much. It was basically an unmaintained Forest Service Road with a number of creek crossings. It took about 1 - 1.5 hours to complete. Only saw one other Jeep out there and a number of KTM dual sport bikes. There were a couple of mini challenges . But there was more fear of slipping off the trail in the narrow muddy sections more than anything.

This is the start of the trail off of I-40. We missed it on our first pass and had to double back. Its just a narrow fire road when passing through the pigeon river gorge.

First major water crossing.

Second major water crossing.

Broken down old bus.

Third major water crossing.

Poser shot while taking a break and eating lunch.

Fourth major water crossing.

Old stone wall.

Rubicon trail style rock obstacle.

End of the trail when it becomes a graded forest service road.

We ended our adventure at Max Patch. Good sunset views of the great smokey mountain national park.

Really late notice, but pending this weeks rain I'm making a trip to Gulches this weekend.
