Soft shackle or loop around shock mount to pull the axle forward enough and line the axle mount up with the lower control arm bolt! Worked great

Default fender flare trimming

LT fun leads to more up travel and bigger tires, leads to self clearencing, lol. Found my fender flare had popped off from a recent small jump. Figured it’s probably time to address the fender trimming. The center top section is getting bashed or scrubbed under full flex. It didn’t seem that much in the driveway but real life instances have proven differently. Kind of figured this would happen with the LT and 35’s. Going to go ahead and trim a full 2.5-3” off the fenders.

Removing fender flare (outer plastic fenders) and trimming them, also trimming the inside metal fender subframe/body. It is recommended to remove the inner wheel plastic fender liner to get to the backs of the clips and squeeze or push from the back of the metal fender frame/body to remove these. A nylon trim remover tool can be used too. If removing these with out a off road bumper the plastic bumper will need to be removed and mud flaps, then fender liner and fenders.
For me, I have trimmed the crap out of my fender lining and plan to leave a small portion in the wheel well on the pass side to keep some debris out of the stock air scoop. Hopefully.
When reinstalling them the method to use is attach the clips to the plastic fender flare first, then snap on to the metal fender subframe/body. Pushing it until you hear it click or pop on. Then reattach the fender screws (in my case no need to).

Some good info here on this thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-ge...-gen-06-a.html

Progress,

Used a grinder with a cut off wheel, tried to use a sawsa and the Jig but the grinder cut off wheel worked best on the metal sub fender

No plastic flares just trimmed metal fender

Plastic flares trimmed, tried to tape them off at first but decided to just wing it, used jigsaw with a wood blade and went slow to medium, cut them in 5 minutes, super simple

Clips in to the metal fender first,

And installed,

All of the clips need to be replaced. Clip part number from Toyota are below

75395-35070 – Orange Total of 3
75396-35020 – Blue Total of 9 but I only need 7. The other two are in the middle center where I will be trimming off.

Picture below of the diagram on the fenders. Parts shown as Items 1 (orange) and 2 (blue)

Default spindle gussets

Finally installed spindle gussets. Install was super simple. My buddy Austin threw down the welds as I disassembled and reassembled.
The ones that retain the sway bar have a lot more reinforcement. Those are the ones to get. Having LT also pushes the axles forward a 1/2" plus the additional caster they add so , it puts more strain on the spindels with the angles and travel.

Thanks man. It’s been a lot of fun too. Still my daily driver and weekend warrior. Though I don’t get out as much as I want or used to.
Working on rebuilding my lower links now. Got the drivers side done. Need to do the passenger side. Bought rebuild parts from Currie for the Johnny Joints. They have been making some awful rubber ducky noises and drivers side started chirping recently too.
Got the drivers side done without the JJ tool and I will never do it with out the tool again. These 2.5” Johnny Joints are big and beefy. Easy to get the old bushings out but pressing in the new one without the tool takes to long. Broke 2 snap ring pliers getting the old one off and my 6” heavy duty bench vise exploded on me putting He new ones in.

Over tightened and over torqued pressing the bushing in which wouldn’t press in enough to get the snap ring on.
Well I was barefoot in the garage when it happened. Shot a 10lb hunk of steel at my foot like a projectile.
Got really lucky that I didn’t loose a toe or break anything! Ended up with 7 stitches though and a good reminder to always have safety equipment on. If I had the JJ tool it would have never happened and if I had boots on which I should of.

Bobby
