Default Sleeping platform/cargo shelf

Hey guys,
I just finished this platform last weekend and wanted to share. I went camping down in Death Valley over new year's and it got me thinking about how nice it would be to be warm inside the rig. Here is the finished product:

I decided that I didn't really need drawers and kind of prefer having my gear in bins since they are portable.

The seats can still fold up when I put the platform piece over the shelf.

I added some tie down location on top

I think I have the modding bug yet again, I just ordered a snorkel

Really nice work, dude! Did you do any drawings first or just improvise?

Thanks! I did some rough sketches of what I wanted to help me visualize. The actual measurements were plugged in as I went.

Have you tried sleeping in it yet? I'm pretty tall but I don't have a platform. The few times I've done it (always alone) I find it's kinda a pain to slide all the gear to one side of the cargo space, and I have to unbolt the lower seat cushion and pack the empty foot-well space with clothes or whatever so I can prop my head up. I'd like to try a platform like yours to eliminate the gear problem, cushion unbolting, and also hopefully have room for 2. My only hesitation is sleeping with my face that much closer to the roof. Do you feel like it's claustrophobic?

Yeah we just used it last week and it was fine. The mummy bags can be claustrophobic but that would be true anywhere.

A foldable mattress would be more comfy I guess.
