Arrow Driver Carpet soaked - LEAK

Does anyone have experienced leak in the driver foot well area?
This Saturday I was doing after winter clean on my 2005 4Runner and took the Weathertech mat of to clean. The carpet under was soaked in water. I took at least 2 big cups of water with paper towels and vacuum. Left a car overnight and on Sunday it was all soaked again. We had some rain overnight, so I thought it may caused it. Did the same exercise and took good 2 cups of water out. Left the carpet full of news papers to see if it drips from somewhere. This morning opening the door and newspaper seem fine from the first sight - dry on top, but it was all wet on the bottom and carpet soaked again. This time it was just less then 2 cups I took out, but there was no rain or water over the vehicle since last time I vacuum the water out. It drained from somewhere. Its is water on smell and transparency, didn't try to taste it . Drove the truck to work and left newspapers again. Will take a look tonight when come to pick it on the parking after work, but I'm afraid it will be soaked again.
What can it be? Where can the water can drain from? Any ideas?

Do you have a sunroof? Could also be roof rack mounts need to be resealed.

It may just be the drain lines in the corners of the sunroof are clogged.
The water will channel down the A pillar, behind the foot kick panel and onto the carpet.
Any water staining on the headliner?

I've not had that issue, but the points that they have mentioned should be checked out, if only to eliminate them.

No stains on the headliner. It feels dry. I did replaced the sunroof 5 years ago, but used original from Toyota and didn't had issues till now.

Does anyone has pictorial where drain line ends on the lower side and how does it routed through the A-Pillar?
I went to the dealer and looked at their parts catalogue, but it just showing the line in space connected to the sunroof, but not in relation to the A-Pillar.

Alex, check out this thread has some pic too there is a drain line in each corner, the front ones are accessible or view able, You can pull the lower kick panel off, open the sunroof, pour a cup of water in the front portion where the drain tray is and see if water goes down and out the corner and also see if water is coming into the cabin viewable from the kick panel. ALso inspect the rubber seal as they wear out over time.

I went thru the leaking sunroof thing a few months ago.
The drain holes in the sun roof were plugged with gunk, causes water to find a different way down, which was down the a-pillars and on to the floorboard carpet.
Goggle search showed me how to ream out the little drain holes at the sun roof, and the same where they drain out thru the seam pinches under the car (that was a dumb design). I used a zip tie, worked great, and I keep one in the car at all times now.

Pretty easy to clear the lines inf the front, if it's the rear it's harder to get to. Wish I never had a sunroof to begin with but oh yeah I don't really have one anymore now haha

I am still searching for my leak source. I also have and had wet carpet on the drivers and passenger sides. I cleaned the front sunroof drains and verified that the rears are working properly. I have since removed all the panels and carpet and have been water testing but have found nothing. If it rains, it shows up inside, water testing shows nothing, yet.

You cleaned the front, but did you test and verify them like you did the rears to see if they drain?

From what I learned on the google, which could be wrong, the fronts drain at the body pinches underneath the truck in front of the front door area. If that's the case, would be really hard to get out any gunk that made it way down there. Maybe first try snaking a long piece of weed-wacker cord further down the hole, test with water, repeat?

Dealmaker, thank you for your response. Yes, both front and rear drains were verified that they are draining with no problems. I cleaned the fronts using the weed wacker method. I suspect the leak is coming from somewhere else. I have been water testing around the cowling to see if water is coming in that way.

Is there any water staining on the headliner? Have you tried removing the A-Pillar plastic covers and going through a high pressure car wash? that would force it in if it's a leak.

Sometimes the water or hose method won't present the leak. Have you looked at the under body near the body mounts to see if the plug holes are missing from the flooring? Just another thought.

I had to track down a leak for a while and it ended up being the sunroof. Even after the darn thing was sealed shut. Tried everything to recreate the leak and nothing. Had to pull the headliner ride around until it rained real hard then found it. The car wash method works too.

Pulling the A pillar plastic covers is a good start to see if anything comes trickling down. I would put dry paper towels up in the empty spot where they meet the headliner and run through the car wash then check them for water or dampness.

I may found the cause of my leak, but would need to verify.
2 years ago I was cleaning some rust around windshield and body shop replaced the windshield as they couldn't remove the original without cracking it. When I hose the lower left corner of the windshield I don't see water in the foot area, but when I hose the upper left corner where rain gutter ends I see water later in the driver foot area. I start suspecting that it can be bad windshield sealing...

There are holes in the roof channel near the windshield that hold the weather stripping to the roof, could also be the roof rack mounts need to be resealed with a drop of silicon?

Take the plastic A pillar off and see if you can spot it coming from the upper windshield?
