Default Is the Hilux pickup viable as my everyday drive? MPG figures or advice?

Hi there, I am looking at selling my car to fund a Hilux single cab pickup, probably the 2.4 TD. I go motocrossing quite a lot and do a lot of welding so a single cab pickup is ideal for me, I'm just not sure wether I can afford to run a hilux as my everyday drive? I've looked on google and can't seem to find any MPG figures for the 98-03 Hiux's, as this is probably what I can afford (I'll have around £3500 to play with), is there some sort of chip or something you can buy for increased economy that anyone knows of? Any advice is appretiated, cheers
