Had a leak for a while so decided it was time to fix
Needed a couple of basic items Bands in two sizes Tube of CV grease Tin snips Injector and needle Band specs: Sizes of hose clamps small SAE - 9347410 - 3/8" 304 Stainless Steel Hose Clamp 1" to 1-5/8" METRIC - 9347410 - 9mm 304 Stainless Steel Hose Clamp 25mm to 40mm Large SAE - 9347493 - 3/8" Stainless Steel Hose Clamp 3-1/2 to 4 3/8" METRIC 9347493 - 9mm Stainless Steel Hose Clamp 90mm to 110mm Available from West Marine http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...tial/0/0?N=377 ![]() The bands I purchased are rounded so they don't dig into the boot like conventional bands from hardware stores. I had to get them from a marine store. The leak ![]() Removed the small band by prying open the two tabs ![]() This releases the band ![]() ![]() Then cut the band ![]() Clean up the CV shaft then inject grease into boot to top up. (This I found really hard to do. It was very hard to squeeze the grease thru the injector and the needle but eventually put in about half of the injector.) ![]() ![]() Then place new band on and crank up - be careful not to over tighten and tear boot ![]() Done! ![]()
