9th Annual Toy120 Mojave Road trip 2014!

Sorry for the Late posting guys!!! Time just ran right by me!!! So, only 3.5 weeks to plan...........So, I'm going to just cap this out at six (6) trucks, so I don't have to dick around with pulling a permit from the NPS!!!!

However......should we have 7 ++ COMMITED to going for sure, I'll make it happen!!!

Alright boys....and hopefully....some damn day......some Single girls with their own trucks!!!!!

Time for me to start planning for our 9th Annual Toyota120 Mojave Road trip!!!


This year, we'll be traveling back in time September 19-21 2014.......

I'll have more info etc.......as we go along. I am getting a little bit of a late start planning this time.

Alright now boys and girls(s)..........it's time to plan our 9th Annual Toyota120 Mojave Road trip!!!!!!!

This is a legendary, great trip, and a great time and adventure is guaranteed for all!!!!!

DATES!!!!

September 19-21 2014!!!!!! (third weekend of Sept.)

We will run it from the beginning @ The River....to the end @ Afton Canyon.

Mojave Road Trip Dates: September 19 (Friday) through September 21 2014 (Sunday).

I will be staying out for an extra day most likely again.......in case anyone else wants to stay out Sunday night!!!

Those of us coming from Las Vegas, will meet around 8:00 ish am here @ Findlay Toyota. We will leave from here, and head down to Laughlin to meet up with those from California.

We will meet up as last year @ the Avi Hotel & Casino just outside of Laughlin, NV ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19th @ 9:00 -9:30 am. We will leave the parking lot by 10:00-10:30 am
CB comms will be on Ch. #38. ham on 146.550.

Note: There is a gas station @ the Avi, and it's much less expensive than in Laughlin Or Needles. Also, just about a mile or so away, on the other side of the River....gas is even Way Less $$$ in Ft. Mohave/Bullhead AZ!! In fact, those coming from California, if you can make it to the Avi without stopping for gas in Needles, then you should, Gas prices in Needles are at or over $4.00 per gallon.
Also, Wait to fill up your extra Gas Cans until we get there too!! Saves you the extra weight transporting fuel from your home, and is Way less expensive than those from SoCal or NorCal!! [

So, for all of the first timers............things that are required:

Your own personal toilet system!!! We HAVE TO PACK OUR SHlT OUT!!!!
This is mandatory, and is one of the conditions of my NPS permit!!!!


COMMUNICATIONS!!!!!! EVERY TRUCK Must have a working CB (min)
and/or a ham!!!!


Lots of extra water!!! And also.....bring lots of extra water!!!!! Also......bring Lots of extra water!!!!!!! Not just drinking water, you'll also want to bring containers full of water!!!! We will, after all, be in the middle of the Mojave Desert!!!!

Extra Gas!!!!!! Extra Gas!!!!!! I bring 15 extra gallons........10 will probably do it, but if you can bring a little extra, that will be better!!!! The Mojave Road itself, the main portion, is almost 140 miles........but we will be taking side trips, and that plus letting the trucks run for AC during the days, will eat up gas quickly......again, we're in the middle of the Mojave Desert, and there are no 7-11's or gas stations!!!!


These are a couple of the main things that you need, obviously, food, drinks, camping stuff, etc.........

I was checking out the Mojave National Preserve website, and they have a cool new feature. A Desert Tortoise app for I phones and Androids!!
The idea behind this app (which is FREE!!) is to better understand their whereabouts, and such.
They already want us to take a photo of them when we see them, but with this app......when you use your phone to capture an image, it also inbeds the GPS coordinates so when we forward them to the NPS, they know about where they are.

I encourage everyone going to go ahead and download this app for the trip!!!

Yeah, I know.......I should have had this up a month ago.........just got busy at work, and too tired after work to get back on the computer!
But.....I've planned this trip 17 other times, and even on short notice.....made it happen!!
