Default 2020 TRD Offroad Premium W/ Icon Stage 5 vs 2020 TRD Pro

Hey Guys. I crashed my 2005 4runner this week offroading. Debating possibly getting a 2020.

My question is do you think a TRD ORP with Icon Stage 5 would have much better performance suspension wise than the stock TRD Pro suspension?

Hey, sorry I missed your call yesterday. But to answer your question, the TRDPro suspension is tuned and dialed in for that vehicle pretty much perfect.......but then you're paying a Lot of extra $$$$ for a TRDPro.
The one advantage of the TRDPro 4Runner, is the specialty color that is truly a one off (one model year Only) on the 4Runner, where that color becomes a standard color the next model year on Tacoma's and Tundra's.

So, if it's Not the special color that tilts you one way or another, then lets just get you a TRD Off Road (premium) and build it. We're like the #2 Icon distributor in the country, so we most likely have all of that on the shelf.

But either way, you'd be happy with either one.

Sorry to hear about the 05, but sounds like great upgrades either way!!

Looks like the TRD Pros are using Fox shocks?? Nice!!

Maybe one day a V8 will sneak back into the 4Runner line up or at least a factory SC V6

Why? Are you thinking you may actually want to play again someday, or does the family not have any interest in your cool hobby? Wish you'd come back out and play!!

Back to the new 4Runner discussion.

Dude! What happened?

Regarding the new 4Runners, the suspension setups on those Pro's is pretty nice...depends upon what you end up doing tho in terms of mods. You know how its is...once you start loading weight (bullbars etc) then even the standar suspension doesnt cut it.

Id personally go for the ORP and build the suspension setup.

Sorry to hear about the crash hope everyone is okay. If you want to keep it stock I would get the TRD Pro otherwise it won't be worth it to change out the TRD Pro suspension from a cost stand point at least. Then again someone may be interested in buying the TRDPro suspension so. Guess i'm no help lol.
Here's what I would do, TRDPro and wheel it for a season or two and then upgrade suspension if you need to.

If I did it again I would go straight to Total Chaos LT with King suspension. Or get a 2wd and SAS if it wasn't my DD.

Hi Guys! Hi Expat/Mark!

So the background story is I was offroading all day in Mazourka Canyon. I have been there many times and know it well. On my way out on the main road I took a turn too fast that had quite a bit of gravel and started sliding out, tried to correct ended up going sideways and sliding and as car was slowing down it rolled on drivers side.

Here are the pics from the crash. https://photos.app.goo.gl/rTQyRwkvcFMJYCyK8

Had no cell reception and didn't have my delorme with me so had to climb up a hill to get reception and get a tow. My insurance took care of me.

Just ordered a 2020 4Runner Offroad Premium and going to deck it out starting with Stage 5 Icon, front bumper and winch, gobi rack and more. Going to have to wait til sep/october for deliver and survive without having a 4Runner til then. Decided the ORP with Icon stage 5 would have better suspension and travel than a TRD Pro and also a higher lift. Going to get TRD skid plate and TRD Pro Grill and likely get a southern style bumper. Instagram here I come.

Did insurance total it out? The damage doesn't look that bad. Assuming it's just cosmetic.

Just thinking you could buy back the 4th gen and make it a dedicated offroad rig and have the 2020 as a DD.

Sorry bud. Just bad luck. But you turned lemons in lemon juice getting a hot new ride. Will be awesome!

I assume you are all ok? was it a slow roll onto the side, or was it pretty hard?

Looks like not too much damage. I guess you don't care but do you happen to know what is happening with the truck now? Looks like for reasonably small investment it could be rebuilt. Or made suitable for a trail rig, which I am sure you don't care about now with a 2020 on the way

Insurance did total it out, I considered the option of keeping it with a salvage title and keeping it for a beater offroad vehicle but just wasn't feeling it and I'm super busy right now at work so didn't want it to take my focus off work.

The tow truck dragged it to position it better and that crushed in the upper door frames causing more damage and may have put it over the edge, If they could of fixed it would of been ok with that.

No it sat on its side for a while and got oil in the cylinders, sounds like for a couple hundred bucks a mechanic could of pulled the plugs and got it running likely.
