Camp Area Info:

Once you are in the park, head South down the beach. The camp area will be right at pole #6.

The camp will be between the high tide line and the restrooms which are a couple hundred yards in towards the dunes. We should be the biggest group out there that weekend so we should be pretty easy to spot.
For those that have GPS here are the coordinates:
N35 03.790 W120 37.671

Communication:

No prob, maybe just post the details so folks now what is going on. I have been to Pismo many times, but I mostly save my Pismo trips for Surf 'n Turf in November as there are less quads and noise. Might be fun to go out for another trip as well.

Good call, I will post details. That is why we picked those dates, should be far enough out of summer so the crowds will be less and far enough away from SNT so you can go to both if you want. I will be at SNT also, last year was a blast.

First post updated with details. I am still looking for ideas for events. Some ideas so far:
Poker run
Observation run (similar to scavenger hunt Expat is the resident expert on this)
Potluck dinner
Significant others take the keys for the sand drag
Taco Salad Sand Drag (ask Expat, he invented this game)
Sunday trail run somwhere off the beach (similar to what SNT does)

Hi Chris,

I am sure you'll put together a Pismo event better than any before. Having a few fun activities will be a treat.

I hope 120 guys and gals will join the fun.

Cheers
Mark

Thanks Mark, the more I think about that observation run, the more I like it. I already have some ideas for it, I need to start doing some preruns out there. Maybe April will let me test the taco out there. I am going to make her bring it and at least drive it a little out there during the weekend. I need to remove those front mudflaps first though.

Cool stuff, thx for fixing.

I can only commit later if I will be able to make it or not. We might want to do a run out to Pozo Saloon on SUnday, and perhaps go do Garcia ridge or similar trails in that area. Maybe do a night run on Friday before the starts.

Friday night run would be a good idea, probably wouldn't be as many there so the group would be smaller making it nice. I wasn't sure if Pozo saloon would be too much of a copy of SNT, but that road combined with Garcia ridge is perfect considering there will be a combo of 2wd and 4wd. All the other trails would probably take to long for those who still had to drive home.

Garcia Ridge was not 2WD friendly the last time I checked it out. A nice place to go will be the Hi Mountain lookout tower. Easy drive and interesting view. 2 years ago there were 2 nice girls manning the tower and they showed birds, etc to the kids there. Adults were looking at different birds

ANyway, just some ideas. No need to do the Pozo lunch like SnT, but rather just for those who want to do somethign different from just beach driving. Other can do a Sunday morning beach run and then do lunch in Pismo.

Yep, I do trail maintenance on Garcia Ridge (it is one of our local clubs "adopt-a-trail"), definately NOT 2wd friendly, but pretty much what you said, some could go to the lookout and some could do garcia if they want. I also just heard that they graded Las Chiches and possibly others. I should be finding out soon what other trails were done or are getting done. From what I heard Las Chiches looked like a graded road, but we haven't found out if they did the whole trail or not.

Updated the first post with a tentative schedule. Let me know what you think. I know Oct. is a long way away but I am trying to stay on top of this so that it won't be something lame because I waited till the last minute. I am hoping to get some prerunning in soon.

Flip Dog, I added you to the list.

Also, I ran Garcia Ridge today which is one of the trails that may be run at some point during the weekend. You can check out the pics here.
