Default 2005 3door Prado 2.7ltr

Hi All,

Looking at importing a 2005 3door Prado to NZ, as they are extremly hard to find. I would prefer the diesel version, but due to new emission rules we can't import a diesel older than 2006, and can't find any 3 door diesels between 2006-2009, not sure if they even produced any. The only one I can find is the 2.7lt petrol. Does anyone own one of these, if so, thoughts? It will be mainly used for duck shooting so no major off roading, just driving across paddocks, and towing a 1 tonne boat on the highway, and over some pretty step roads which my mates 3.0lt Isuzu wizard just manage's. I would by a hilux but in NZ you can't get one for under 30k, and it will have over 200k on the clock. I can import a 3 door prado with less than 50k on clock for less than 20k, also looked for the v6 4.0ltr but can only find the 3.4ltr model, which I am told are extremely thirsty.

Hi outfishn. i personally own an RZ 3.4ltr V6, the 2.7ltr versions are very sluggish and kinda heavy on fuel too, considering the power to weight ratio..

Thanks for the reply CD. I manged to find a 2003 3.4ltr V6 in excellent nick with 99000km on the clock, the only issue is the cracked dashboard :-(. Running great, pitty about the fuel consumption. It uses 16ltr/100km and that's with out the boat on the back. O to have a diesel, may mates Izuzu Wizard does 10ltr/100km towing the boat. Unfortunately I have only ever seen 1 diesel version in NZ and it was $36000 for a 2005 model. I don't think so.
What's your fuel consumtpion like? Do you use 91 or 96 Octane?

Reviving an old thread... I have a 2008 Prado 120 2 door with a 4 cylinder Diesel (no turbo)

It consistently gives me 40+ kilometers per gallon.
