Default Magnaflow 14586/12586 Review 08 T4R 4.0L V6

Hey guys!

(Not sure where else to post this, if needed please move thread)

I'm a bit slow at getting this posted, but here's an audio clip of my new muffler after about 2-3 weeks of having it installed. Initial sound was very quiet factory like, but it has opened up more and has a deeper louder sound to it now. However it's nothing like how loud my Dirty Deeds Muffler was (had no packing). I am very happy that I now have ZERO drone from this muffler that I had installed.

Original exhaust piping up to the muffler, from there the muffler is welded in and then the resonator at the end was removed and routed out behind the tire.

Magnaflow 14586 which is the SS version of the 12586

Recorded from cell phone, not best audio quality.
Here's the old Dirty Deeds muffler clip 1
Here's the old Dirty Deeds muffler clip 2

Recorded on Canon DSLR 70D
New Magnaflow 14586 from inside

I still need to get a clip from outside the vehicle.

Dude 0 to 60 in 9 seconds with your gas light on, lol. Thanks for posting.
Sounds pretty similar but a little more throaty than the DynoMax that I have, but mine is dumped before the axle. That makes it a tad louder in the cabin for sure.

Is yours exiting the rear and in the video was your windows up? I'm looking at a SS for my next one as my aluminum is starting to get a little crusty after 6 years of dirt and mud crud.

Thanks

Bobby

At first I saw you mention it took 9 seconds and I thought that sounded slow, till I confirmed that when going to work this morning.... gotta remember it's a 4X4er not a sports car! LOL But a URD supercharger would still be fun!

The exhaust is routed to dump behind the tire and the window was up. If you want I can do another video this afternoon with the windows down.

Got another one for you with the windows down.

I really want to get a shot from outside, but I don't want to set down my Canon 70D on the ground and drive off and then back. I'll need my wife for assistance with that one and either I forget or we are busy.

33" tires means 60 on the speedo is actually faster than that, also larger off road tires does not help 0-60 times, LOL

True if I didn't have the Speedo Healer installed and GPS confirmed accurate. Yeah tire size and weight sure don't help acceleration! LOL

Really that's all you wanted to do is b!tch about how I'm running my vehicle? You could have just sent me a private message instead of filling the post with this.

Thanks for he videos, really helps figure out the sounds. So, are you still wishing you went with the 18" or are you satisfied with the 22"?

So I do wonder what the 18" would sound like. The trucks quiet at idle, very stock like but with getting on it, it's fairly loud, not like the old one, but still good. If you like it louder, I'd go with the 18", but having a baby girl in the back seat it's probably best for me to have the 22" muffler.

On a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the loudest, how loud would you say it is?
My dynoMax is about a 6 but it's dumped under the truck causing more cabin resonance. When it was exiting the truck it was not that loud at all, maybe a 3 or 4. Just deeper toned.

So during idle it's basically factory quiet from inside. I'll call 1 muffler loud.

During low RPM cruise say 1500-2000 I'd have have to say it's a 2 mufflers, but my mud tires you can hear more distinctly than the exhaust.

During WOT accelerations I'd call it a 3-5 mufflers at the most.

Just curious did you have any install issues with the 3" in 3" out? Stock piping is just under 2.25"
I'm looking at getting a new muffler soon as my DynoMax is getting pretty rusty after 8 years of use and dirt. Looking at the 14586. It is the same specs but has a 2.5" in and out. Thoughts?

Yeah.... That title is a typo... Whoops! It's the stock tubing size for the number you mentioned.

I don't see how anybody could disagree with this.

For those interested I timed my 2005 VVTI V8 with my current setup. 285's, 3" lift + 1.5" BL, 200lbs of skidplates/sliders. 3 gallons of fuel left in tank, AC off.

8.05s by GPS.

So the 14586 is 2.5" in and out. Does that sound right?
