No sure but this should work on cars as it works on motorcycles.

I used a radioshack extra cig outlet (with bare wire ends) and wired that to the fuse panel below the steering wheel w/ an inline fuse, an adda fuze thing would work good as well. Stuffed that in the same area and then ran the GPS power cord (also a Nuvi) to the left side of the dash and tucked it down and over to the new "hidden" plug. It could be reomved fairly easliy if needed to move to another vehicle, works great. Removed the mounting plate thing though.

I have a 4 inlet cig lighter plug accessory that I hide behind the useless storage box in front of the shifter. I cut the plug of the 4 inlet and wired it to the OEM lighter. I run my Nuvi GPS, Sat Radio, Cell Ph and spare iPod adaptor. Have had it like this for many years and works faultlessly. All my wires are hidden. All devices work and charge as needed.

It isn't any more difficult to run the wiring through the firewall to the battery (and yes it still should be fused). The plus side is that you can wire up higher current requirement items that way. In my truck I have wired up 3 extra cig power adapters, made the wiring good (based on length) for 40 amps and fused everything for 30. It is fed from the 2nd battery on the dual battery kit. It lets me run just about whatever I want.
Good points.......what 2nd battery kit did you use? I have a fuse block already set up under the hood but i just didnt want something to draw constant power.

Did you keep the storage piece there? Would you happen to have any pics by chance? Also, where did you find a 4 outlet plug?

Thanks for all the replies so far guys.

Yes, kept the storage bin. There is space to the right and behind for the 4 way

No pictures but I'll see if I can take some this weekend

Bought the 4 way from Pep Boys.

So behind this kick panel and a little up, there is room to hide a 4 way plug

Looking down to the same area, you may see a small blue light which is one of the electrical plugs from one of my device plugged into the 4 way

Here's where I tapped in to power under the cig lighter next to the shifter - a brown wire and a white wire

The devices I run are my sat radio, cell ph charger, hands free module and GPS

Sorry I don't have better photo right now. Haven't time to pull all the parts off to get to the 4 way.
