Interesting, let us know how you like it.
Would like to know the current draw and how it holds up with some offroad action.

Never heard of the Woody. Like Andries said, it would be nice to know the current, and how it holds up against the beatings it will take off road. Our Engels and ARB fridges are purpose built for this.
But, just do a little more research, and compare it to the Engel and ARB. Although, the flash freeze setting is pretty cool...pun intended....... ![]()

testimonials here
http://www.compactappliance.com/FP43...ances-Freezers a few: "I purchased this unit for a 4x4 trip on the Rubicon trail, where ice is not available. Most of the others had either the ARB or Engle fridges that cost $700-$900.My buddies ARB ran his battery down, my Edgestar ran all week, did not tax my battery, kept food cool and I even turned the therostat colder to cool warm beer. Beer was cool in about 20 minutes or so. All food stayed fresh, the entire trip. Holds a lot more then anticpated. Extremely quiet..Also the display of temp is better the the ARB or Engle.Great value and many folks asked about it on the trail." another "I have used for over a month in the back of an FJ Cruiser, Southern California to South Dakota. Temperatures in the truck reached over 130°F during this time and the FP430 kept a steady 38°F. I have left it running for three days without charging the battery and it did not drain the battery down to its auto cut-off point. I do have a dual battery setup."

I've had this fridge on my list for about 6 months. This will be the one I buy. I just saw it on sale a few days ago for like $489.

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on one of these since they have good reviews. Is it wise to run them off of a second battery? Which one do you guys recommend if so? I was thinking either the Optima red top or yellow top.
Appreciate it. |

A second battery would be nice to run the fridge off. It has the possibility to drain your main battery on hot days/nights.
When getting a second battery to run accessories like a fridge, etc get a deep cycle battery (marine batteries are normally deep cycle, Yellow top optima, Odyssey, and some of the Die-Hard batteries made by Enersys). Back to topic. Would like to hear more feedback on these fridges. Looks like a nice alternative to the normal Engel type fridges.

I know, sort of off topic.....but get a blue top, forget the yellow top...not worth it.

the yellow top is not a true deepcyle battery.. it is a starting battery that can be discharged more than a regular battery. the blue top is designed to be discharged to a lower voltage and can be cycled to that lower voltage allot more. basicly the blue top can go dead more often and recover better that a yellow top. it is all explained on the optima web site or at least it was..

What he said! Also, the warranty sucks crap!! My Yellow top went dead 1 year and a month or so. No warranty left!! ![]() ![]() And that was at Costco!! And they take everything back!!! Not anymore, I got $10.00 trade in on it. ![]() ![]() Both the Red and Blue Tops have 18 month warranties on them. I've never had any problems with my Red top, and I've had twice as long as the Yellow top. The Blue kicks butt, no worries!! ![]() ![]()
