Default V8 front differental assembly compatibility

I have a 2004 V8 4Runner that I believe has some bearing going bad on the driver side of the differential assembly. I'm getting a slight vibration and a loud humming at highway speeds and there's even the slightest of movements to turn right. Turning left or going straight there's no noise or vibration, but even the slightest correction in steering to the right, and I get the vibration and humming which feels like it's coming from the center of the front end, maybe slightly favoring the driver side. Pretty much there the driver side cv axles goes into the diff carrier. I've already changed out the wheel bearing and 2 cv axles for the driver side, and it's still there leaving me to think it's something in the diff.

My question is I noticed some ebay ads saying the 03-04 V8 4 Runner, 2003-2009 GX470, 2010-2016 4Runner front differential carrier assemblies are compatible with each other if they have the 3.73 gearing. Can anyone confirm this? There seems to be more of the GX470 diffs available than 03-04 diffs, so I was looking to pick one of those up if it was.

I can see the 4th Gen V8 and GX470 being compatible, and from what I have seen. I don't see how the 2010+ diffs will work on on the 4th Gen V8, for one the V8 is full time 4WD.

Maybe check some part #s as well.

Not long after posting this a friend of mine messaged me and mentioned he works for Lexus now. I got him to confirm the V8 4Runners and GX470 front diff assembly does share the same part number. I haven't checked the 5th gen one yet, but just knowing the GX fits is good enough to find the parts I need.

The GX470 is also full-time 4WD, so that's probably why.

Pretty sure the 8” clamshell is the same across 4Runners, Tacomas, FJ Cruisers and GXs, other than the gear ratios. The differences are with the stub shaft and ADD assembly, or lack thereof. But you can put your stub onto any 8” clamshell so you are good there.

Check out East Coast Gear Supply. They can confirm capatibility. Also they have a fix for the drivers side needle bearing going out—not sure if it works on AWD vehicles.
