Default Is this something I should have fixed? (CV?)

Was inspecting my front suspension and noticed the front left CV boot is greasy. Is this mean I need the CV replaced/repaired?

Here is a photo. https://photos.app.goo.gl/juqmP24waszqDJqS7

Is this something that is easy to fix and I can have an independent mechanic fix or go to the dealer?

Also noticed my brake lines are pretty worn: https://photos.app.goo.gl/RmtvHvS9PSueV6p59

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

That cv looks fine, they tend to leak a little after a while, you don't need to replace/fix them until it's really bad.

Thanks Mikestang! How are you? I live up in Mammoth now if you ever want to go offroading up here.

I also have some weird clanking noise that seems to come from that corner of the vehicle when offroading. Could it be related and how do I know when it is time to have work done?

ahhemmm....!

Jon, I have some extra bands if you want to try that first, when it gets to that point. I did a few yrs ago, but ended up replacing the boots a few months later.

That brake line looks kinda sketchy. My plastic layer is pretty cracked but no fraying anywhere. Will be interested to see what others have to say.

Yea I would replace the frayed steel, it may puncture the line itself. The plastic wrap on them never lasts long.

The clunk could be something loose, try tightening all the nuts up there.

Mike, you think it's from his 215k miles worth of flexing in the front?
Are extended lines something we should think about for the front?
